Mark straightened up. If she was going to be stuck this way, she'd just have to live with it. For starters, she willed a small mirror into existence in front of her and looked over her reflection. No, she didn't like that at all. She focused her powers on herself again and made what changes she could to her appearance. Her colorful butterfly wings reshaped into less flamboyant dragonfly-style wings, almost transparent with a light blue hue. Her hair became platinum blond, with a ragged shoulder-length cut. Finally, her figure reshaped itself from the full-featured woman's figure she had gained when she became a fairy to a markedly less curvy one, like that of a girl in the middle stages of puberty. She tried to will herself some gender-neutral clothing, but all she could call into existence was a green knee-length dress with a cord to fasten around the waist. Oh well, it would have to do. She put it on and then considered what she saw before her. She liked it, which surprised her, but the sooner she could get used to her new self, the better. And somehow, "Mark" didn't seem to fit anymore. She thought for a moment. Mary. That would be her new name.
Mary thought about what to do next. Should she take the necklace back to her friends? It was a potentially powerful tool, but was it really a safe thing to leave in the hands of people? Perhaps, she thought, she ought to destroy it or put it out of mankind's reach.
