The May Issue of Animalia Magazine was the official Preview of the 2023 International Animalia Convention. The usual event previews, and the schedule of events, were included, as well as a few new things.
---
The biggest new thing was going to be the official unveiling of the Greco-Roman Colony, Aeaea, during the IAC. Because of that, and the prevalence of Greco-Roman "Popular Myth", there was an article that talked about Greco-Roman myth, both the "popular" version and the actual "truth". One big example of this was the misconception that Hades was the one who masterminded the coup against Zeus when it was actually Hera.
---
Another thing that was going on during the IAC was the next "chapter" of When Worlds Collide..., whose summary was included in an article of Animalia Magazine. During a "Meeting of the Allies" in France (said allies including King Arthur, Oda Nobunaga, Hide, Elrond, Galadriel, Merlin, Gandalf and the others, as well as some "newcomers" such as King Louis XIV), Uruk-hai and Olog-hai make a sudden ambush, accompanied by Asian demons. During the confrontation, one uruk grabs the jade amulet that was the key to finding Wo Long's tomb, but his hand was badly burned by the "holiness" of the pendant (for lack of a better term). Afterward, most of the Uruks and Ologs are killed, but the remainder are driven off.
While Miss Juliet was surprised that her estate would be where the Meeting of the Allies would be taking place, she did appreciate, at least partly, the publicity that would result. However, there was one thing that was not part of the official script but was left in because of how well it fitted in overall.
In it, Charles begged King Louis for the opportunity to be made a knight, but King Louis was initially reluctant. It was when Nobunaga revealed (with William's help in translating) that Charles was "sighted", and thereby able to see and permanently kill demons, that King Louis ultimately consented to begin his training.

Another article revealed the overall theme of the 2023 IAC: World War III. But there was also an explanation of what this theme was, which often took a lot of wind out of the sails of the internet sensationalists and weirdoes. Because of the Russian Invasion of Ukrane, a lot of hype was being generated about what this would bring about. What was also true was that there had been multiple attempts, both in the US and elsewhere, to get Animalians into the Armed Forces. However, the monumental cost of building, retrofitting, and basically adapting military gear for Animalians was the biggest hurdle to overcome and had most politicians (not just Republicans or Democrats) effectively saying, "No, not today."
So, as a kind of joke, and a homage to games like the Nioh series, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, and similar games of historical periods embellished with mythological elements, it was decided to use motion capture technology and props to do the kind of war that Animalians would be more likely to take part in, with Sauron as the primary antagonist, instead of a certain nation.
The article also included a sub article that talked about the time period being referenced, from the mid 1500s to the early 1600s and the major world events that happened during that time period. While there were plenty of historical references in the video games mentioned, the mythological embellishment in those games were so great that the article had to separate which was truth and which was embellishment.
