Whilst Nikola was at the club getting dressed, Kurt had returned to the hospital with the FBI Agents. They parked the vehicle then went to where they had seen the Porsche. It was still there guarded by a police officer.
Agent Dwyer showed her badge and spoke to the officer "FBI. We need to search this car. Do you know what happened here? Have you located the owner"
The officer checked her badge before answering "Someone smashed the window. We got called in because a security guard thought he had caught the culprit. Though the latest intel from the station indicates that was a mistake. As far as the owner goes my colleagues are still trying to find him. We don't even know if anything was taken"
"We claim jurisdiction. Can you get your colleagues to return and tell us what they have found out. Also have you any witnesses?"
The man spoke on his two-way "The Feds have turned up. They want to speak to you. Bring out that security guard who called us in as well"
Several minutes later a Policeman emerged with the security guard. The man immediately spotted Kurt, he recognised her as the girl he had falsely arrested, then physically molested. He froze in fear. He had been told the girl was innocent and her story of being the daughter of the cars owner had checked out. He was very relieved that she didn't point an accusing finger at him and tell the cops what had happened in the office. He smiled at her and she smiled back. The officer was being interrogated by two plain clothed detectives. He didn't listen to the conversation. Instead he sidled up to the girl.
"Miss Donaldson. I am so sorry for falsely arresting you. Please forgive me. Here are your keys and the items from your pocket. If there is anything I can do to make things up to you just let me know"
Kurt had not seen this security guard before. How did he know her false name? She was even more suprised when he surrepticiously handed her a set of keys, a man's wallet and a roll of cash. The man gave her a friendly wink and moved back to where the agents were still talking to the policeman.
Fortunately Kurt still had the handbag that Ruby's father had given her when he had spoken to her in the hospital. The clothes she had been given had no pockets so Kurt had kept the handbag with her. In it she had stashed her own wallet and identification. Now she added the wallet and cash the security guard had just given her. She pressed the button on the keys and heard the Porche unlocking.
The FBI agents and the Policeman were too busy talking and had apparently not noticed she had the car keys. The security guard was now talking to them as well. Kurt moved across to the car and opened the door and looked inside.
The security guard related how he had found the girl apparently breaking into the car and arrested her. Then waited for the police to arrive. Once more he was apologetic explaining how she was in ill-fitting clothes and acting suspiciously. He made no mention of what had happened in his office. The agents listened carefully.
"And have you located the cars owner"
"A Nikola Federov" the Policeman answered for him. "His daughter was falsely arrested"
Agent Dwyer had more questions "Are there surveillance tapes of this area?"
"It's actually a blind spot" the security guard admitted. He definately did not want them to unearth the tape of what had happened in his office.
"So we don't actually know if anyone actually broke into the car?"
"I guess you will have to ask the girl" said Keith the security guard. "She was here before me" The agents and the policeman turned to see where he was pointing. They saw Kurt looking through the opened door of the Porsche.
