Kurt did not like the way the female FBI agent was treating her. Kurt was a victim here and the agent knew it. She had done nothing but co-operate with the agents, leading them to where she had left the medallion and telling them everything she knew. And what was her thanks? The agent was laughing at her, teasing her about having to wear a dress, treating her as if she was a criminal, hinting that she would hand Kurt over to the Russians and allow them to do what guys did to girls.
She actually appreciated that the Russian guy Marco had provided her with a clean dress. It was thoughtful of him. Sure it wasn't exactly the style of clothing that Kurt would normally wear, but she wasn't normally in the body of a teenage girl. If anything the hem of this dress was lower then the miniskirt she had been given to wear earlier. She also appreciated how calm Marco had been in the park when the police had pointed guns at them, how he had stuck up for Kurt (even if Marco had thought she was Ruby). It was obvious to Kurt that Marco despite his rough exterior, had a good heart and his only intention was to get 'Ruby' safely back to her mother. He certainly wouldn't be handing 'Ruby' to his men
Coupling these thoughts together with the knowledge that the Russians seemed to be a step ahead of the FBI with regard to finding the medallion, she decided to chance her future with Marco.
She would answer the agent truthfully but decided not to tell her she was Kurt. Let the agent think she was someone else. She answered "I don't know where the medallion is. Do you think I wouldn't have it with me if I did? It was stolen from the car. You saw the broken window. You should be searching for the thief. Not threatening young girls"
The agent looked at the girl. She suspected her strategy of intimidation wasn't working. She knew this was was Nikola Fedorov, who else could she be? The girl had been first arrested wearing a men's suit, then taken to the Russian run nightclub. She had been found again in company with the Russian gangster Alexei, who the local police told her ran two nightclubs and a prostitution ring in Jacksonville. He would have provided Nikola with a change of clothes. No doubt sourced from one of his working girls.
Perhaps this Alexei and his friend Marco, no doubt another Russian gangster, actually did think Nikola was the real Ruby. They were obviously connected to Nikola somehow, business associates perhaps? It would serve Nikola right if she left her in the hands of these guys. Soon enough they would find out there were multiple Ruby's and that this girl was not the real one. Why didn't the girl realise her best chance of returning to her old body would be to co-operate with the Agency? The Agency had more resources then the Russians could summon up.
But she was pissed off now. She had been so close to recovering the artefact. She took her frustrations out on Nikola. "So that's how it's going to be is it? You want to throw your lot in with Russian gangsters? Good luck in that case. I'm sure they would be able to provide a pretty girl like you with plenty of work" She reached into her handbag. "Take this. Ring me if you change your mind and decide to cooperate" she tossed a card onto the table "We'll be watching you and your cronies" and walked out of the room.
Cheryl stuck her head into the room where the police were congregated. "Release the the Russians but keep a tail on them. I want to be notified if any are seen with a brief case. Unfortunately we have nothing to hold them. Let them take the little hussy" Cheryl got back into her hired car intending to return to Agent Dexter. She hoped he might have made a breakthrough with the car.
Marco got up calmly and thanked the police officer who had provided him with a cup of coffee. He collected Ruby, and walked out of the police station with Alexei and Vlad, Alexei's henchman. Once outside he put 'Ruby' into his car then went and had a quiet word with Alexei. "I think it would be irresponsible of me not to take Ruby home as soon as possible. I'll leave my men here to help you search for Nikola's brief case. Call me as soon as you have a breakthrough"
"I should get back to the club as soon as possible. I just got notification that a new group of girls have arrived from the home country. I don't trust that FBI agent. She'll snoop around. I'll have to hide the new recruits somewhere else for a few weeks"
"Do that. I hope they took that dick biter off your hands"
"Should have. Good riddance to her. She'll get her just deserts no doubt"
