Ricky did not grin back at his brother, but his annoyed gaze shifted back to the hallway as their mother disappeared around a corner. Max expected his twin to throw blame his way, but to his surprise, he did not. "I can't believe her." He said aloud, though softly.
"Its not like she knew what she was doing Ricky." Max reminded him. "Her awareness was off."
"If you had just let me mess with it, this never would have happened." Ricky shook his head slowly.
Max narrowed his eyes at his twin. "If you hadn't started the argument, this wouldn't have happened."
"Whatever." Ricky stated as he turned his head away.
Max did the same, turning in the opposite direction. Both of the twins, angry with each other, interlaced their arms unintentionally, crossing them over their shared chest. "Has to be." Max answered. "Our awareness was set to on, so that function must just make us know any changes occurred."
"More than just that... I feel like this is normal, even though my brain is telling me it is not." Ricky said as he tapped his chin. "Regardless... this is not what I had in mind when using the Chronivac. This is the exact opposite of what we wanted."
"Yeah..." Max agreed. He began to take a closer look a the body they shared. He was not sure what happened to the clothes they had been wearing, while separate, but now they were simply wearing a grey hoodie and pyjama pants. His gaze shifted down to their two feet. Max had been barefoot, and currently, he still was. Or at least, his one foot, their right, was barefoot. His brother's foot, their left, wore a white sock.
Despite the unusualness of the situation, Max could not deny his curiosity. Never in a million years would he or his brother choose to do this to themselves, but now that it had been done, he found himself what a typical school day looked like. "Ricky...
