As Tymora closed the door, she heard a shifting in her bed as Elenara sat up, rubbing her eyes.
"Was that Pearl?" she asked "My maid?"
"Yes," said Tymora "Or I think so. Is she the one with the cat tail?"
Elenara winced "Yes, unfortunately. She used to be my best friend, but she took a spell that was meant for me, and was transformed. She would have become a full cat if we hadn't found a way to stop it. She used to be a promising blacksmith's apprentice, but after her transformation, she was unable to get work. I took her in as a maid, with my parents permission. She seems happy, but I know she yearns to return to blacksmithing."
"Why can't she be transformed back completely?" Tymora asked
"Transformation curses are tricky," said Elenara "They can't be dispelled. Not completely. Only their progress halted. At least until the person who cast the curse is either killed, or chooses to lift it. Since we aren't sure who cursed her, we aren't able to bring her back to what she was. She'll be stuck in that inbetween state until we can figure that out."
"She said that breakfast will be ready soon," said Tymora "And that I should get ready. You should probably move through to your room."
