"Man... I really am a bodybuilder..." Mike muttered as he looked at the rows of pictures of him on the walls. When they went into the living room, there were a couple of trophies next to the TV. His wide shoulders and thick arms fill the hallway, making it impossible for Jeff to pass by.
"Yeah. You won first place on your first competition," Jeff smiled.
"Did I?" Mike took a second to think about it. Sudden memories of him standing on stage and having the whole crowd go wild for the rookie filled his mind. His body naturally flexed in the joy and excitement flooding into him. "Damn... That was a good day... I can't believe how powerful that Chronivac thingy is."
"Uh-huh," Jeff nodded. It took everything in his power not to reach out and touch his brother. Just seeing those big muscles flex was enough to make him want to reach out and grab them. "It even makes it so no one else is aware anything changed."
"Wait. Really? So mom thinks I've always been like this?" Mike asked. He stuck out his tongue as though something odd was on it. "Mom..?" he uttered again. "Mom. I mean M--Christina. Eww..." His whole body shook as he said their mom's real name. Calling her that just felt too weird. "She's my mom now?"
"I guess?" Jeff shrugged. "We're brothers so it only makes sense that she'd be mom. Right?"
Mike shrugged back. "I guess... But then who's dad?"
"Dunno. Guess we'll find out," Jeff answered as they walked into the dining room. Christina had set out a several plates. It was pretty obvious which one was for Mike. He had several pieces of chicken breasts, a large pile of rice and some broccoli. While Jeff and Christina had what looks more like Chinese with a special orange sauce on top. Mike made a face.
"What?" his mom asked.
Jeff quickly pulled out his phone and saw the Chronivac app. He typed in, 'Mike loves the bodybuilder diet.' Then pressed enter. He watched as Mike's face shifted into a smile.
"I'm just so hungry. And this all smells so good," Mike said. His mind completely shifted, as his stomach grumbled. Jeff had turned back on the awareness, but Mike didn't seem to notice the difference.
"Well. That's more like it," Christina smiled.
A man walked in and gave Christina a kiss. "Sorry I'm late hun." He was wearing a nice button up shirt with black pants. The shirt and pants clung to his fat in an unflattering way. At 5'10" he was quite a bit shorter than Mike, but looked to weigh more than his son, the bodybuilder. The large belly, flabby undefined arms and round face completely contrasted Mike's perfectly sculpted body.
Mike's face soured as he looked at the other man. He seemed to almost flex on him in disgust. Thick veins ran down his biceps and bulged out of his forearms. "Dominic..." Mike growled.
Jeff could remember his mom and dad talking about how there were other men who Christina had dated, and this must have been one of them that Mike remembered. "Calm down..." Jeff whispered.
"But--"
"Look. We can change things about him..." Jeff held up his phone, wiggling it with a smile.
Mike's anger softened. "Yeah. Let's."
