True to Father Patrick Murphy’s words the way back to where he and Lucy fled from was a long journey. However, he and Lucy were not versed in reading the land. With help from Alecto flying above and acting as a forward recon, the ragtag band of Enoch, Lamashtu, Baal, Svadilfari, Ahriman; his amnesiac wife Jahi, with Lucy and the Priest they made a fairly good time. Then Alecto flew back down with a concerned look on her face.
“Baal, may I borrow your binoculars,” Alecto looking worried; “I see something in the distant, but I’m unsure if it is an illusion or worse.”
“Here,” Baal handing the human made equipment; “Just bring them back, it’s my favorite pair.”
As Alecto flew off, Lamashtu approach Lucy; once her slave wife named Pallaca, now and angel.
“Can we talk,” Lamashtu looking sullen; “while we have the moment.”
“I’ll listen to what you have to say,” Lucy looking angered; “but I’m not going back to being a plaything for you.”
“I want to know,” Lamashtu asking; “if this is what you truly want? And to know if you think of me being cruel to you.”
“Cruel,” Lucy shouting; “you abused me for centuries. Slapping me, whipping me. Forcing me to be a lap dog. The human slaves the serve their sentence in your palace get treated better than me,” Lucy pointing a finger to her former master.”
“But if I didn’t pluck you from the slums of London,” Lamashtu feeling the sting of Lucy’s words before getting cut off.
“I would have most likely died,” Lucy glaring; “be it from a client’s blade, disease or worse. So I will admit you did give me a life of comfort, but you never gave me the choice to make my own decisions. You never allowed me to express and opinion. You never acknowledge that I had free will.”
“Valid points,” Father Patrick chiming in before Lamashtu shot him a dirty look; implying the he should stay out of this.
As Lamashtu and Lucy bicker, Enoch took the time to contact Lucifer with a communication portal. The pall he had on his face when he interrupted his sister and angelified slave wife caused both to stop talking.
“What is it,” Lamashtu speaking first; “what has you looking like you seen a ghost.”
“Father updated me on the situation in Dis,” Enoch looking at his sister; “the senate passed proposition 13666. There is an outright revolt because of it.”
“How,” Lamashtu looking stunned; “you destroyed that proposal in father’s study.”
“Somehow,” Enoch swearing; “Nergal got ahold of it and had is wife Laz rework it. Everyone thinks you signed it in law.”
“But I was with you the entire time,” Lamshtu looking pained; “helping you rescue our loved ones.”
“And now you have to go back,” Enoch looking serious; “Despite the growth you have shown in the past 12 plus hours, you are no fighter. You are not a warrior,” Enoch holding his sister’s hand; “you skill is with the pen and words. You need to head back and stop the unrest.”
“How,” Lamashtu looking sullen; “How can I undo what the citizens are blaming me for.”
“Remember when you asked me how I handled the insults,” Enoch giving Lamashtu a scroll and a smile.
“Rise above it,” Lamashtu remembering their talk last night; “become and inspiration, not a joke. But what is this you handed me?”
“Read it,” Enoch grinning; “I managed to whip it up this morning.”
Lamshtu opens the scroll and her jaw drops.
‘Proposition 136667 The Demon Bill Of Rights.
Article 1: All demons regardless of parentage, heritage; be they born by blood or human born are to be equal under the law.
Article 2: The practice of kidnapping humans for the purpose of pleasure slaves is hereby outlawed.
Article 3: The practice of using a condemned human soul’s addiction in life to act as a sentence enhancement is to be outlawed. This practice run against the treaty with heaven as stipulated in Treaty to Heaven and Hell Volume 2: Crimes and Punishment. Demon’s tempting humans is no longer to be practiced.’
Article 4: All demons are to have the right to learn and use portal summoning magic.
Lamashtu looked up at Enoch, unable to express words at what she is reading.
“It will be tough,” Enoch speaking; “but I’m hazarding a guess that those that passed Proposition 13666 are now eager to see it repealed. and to have it reversed. Especially now that they have born witness to its folly. This bill will put a stop any further unrest.”
“I don’t know what to say,” Lamashtu looking teary eyed.
“Believe in yourself Lammy,” Enoch using his sister’s pet name; “I have faith in you.”
“You haven’t called me Lammy in centuries,” Lamashtu choking up; “Alright, but I have one thing to do first. Turning to look at Lucy. “I am sorry for the way I have treated you. I know words can not begin to undo the damage I have caused you, so I’ll say this one thing. I hereby release you,” Lamashtu opening a portal to Lucifer’s palace; “chart your own path from here on out, and if you come across the rest of my harem, tell them I release them as well.”
“I will,” Lucy nodding as she watches Lamashtu leave to stop a civil war.
“Enoch,” Alecto returning; tossing the binoculars back to Baal. “We have a problem. Hundreds of demons, not just our family that is missing, but more. All are standing beyond the dunes waiting.”
“Waiting for what,” Enoch looking puzzled.
“Us,” Baal readying his sword; “I imagine they are waiting for us.”
“We are outnumbered,” Alecto sighing; “by at least ten to one.”
“We faced worse odd,” Baal lighting a cigar; “remember the raid on heaven in 500BC?”
“That was different,” Alecto looking at Baal; there were no Chaos thralls enslaving our comrades. All of them Enoch,” Alecto looking at her brother; “all have a dead look about them.”
“Eyes soulless and black,” Jahi speaking up; “vacant expression?”
“Yes,” Alecto answering; “Loki is at the front. And there is more,” Alecto shuddering; “there is creature of smoke next to him. It bears the image of disgrace lord Adrammelech.”
“Fuck,” Baal choking on his cigar, “there another one of those things?”
Enoch stares at Baal and holds up his sword, “Lightbringer remember? Its what I used to kill the shade that wounded you. And it may be the only weapon we have that can expel the chaos shades that are enslaving our brethren.”
“But there is too many,” Alecto speaking; “we need more help."
“Then it’s a good thing we arrived!”
Enoch, Baal, Electo and the rest look up to see two angels descending among them. Forgive us, we are not here to engage in hostilities.”
“Then what are you here for,” Svadilfari readying his weapon; “if not to kill demons.”
“Me,” Lucy approaching; “they are her for me aren’t you.”
“Yes,” the angel nodding; “but where are my manners. I am Metatron and this is Sandalphon,” Metatron pointing to his companion; “and it looks like you can use our help in beating back chaos.”
