During the night, a cool breeze wafted through Adam's broken window, his subconscious mind once again reflecting the sudden chill by turning his body to ice, along with the more usual response to simply cocoon himself in his blankets. As dawn broke and the air warmed, he began to melt, soaking into the blanket, feeling of course quite uncomfortably warm while also rather wet. This of course brought on dreams of visiting the beach, splashing in the waves under a hot sun. This stabilized his body, at least enough to drain out from the blankets and kick them away, but of course, Adam's primary association with the beach was well-toned and tanned babes frolicking in the surf or running along through the crashing waves.
So naturally, when Adam woke up to someone pounding at her front door, she rolled out of bed in a hot pink bikini, shook her unruly blonde mane a bit to remove any tangles, grabbed a convenient oversized shirt to pull on, and let out a long yawn on the way to get the door.
"Hey, I'm lookin' for an..." the schlubby looking man on the other side checked a clipboard, "Adam, about a window. He in?"
"Oh yeah, that's me, come on in," Adam said, stepping aside to point towards the shattered window."
"Sorry? You uh, don't really look like an Adam."
Adam stammered for a moment, wondering what that could possibly mean. Of course she looked like an Adam, that was her name after all! Looking to a mirror for confirmation however, she did have to admit it seemed rather off, and slowly realized as she began to really properly wake up that she had, apparently, changed to reflect her dreams once again. She could focus on what she normally looked like of course, but this was already too awkward a situation to really want to deal with without explaining these experiments to this sketchy guy standing in her doorway.
"Oh no, I'm Adam's sister!" she lied, trying to think up a quick cover story on the fly. "I just got into town last night, and crashed on his couch. He said to let you in when you got here. Had to dash out for an important early meeting, you see."
The window guy nodded, half-paying attention while obviously checking her out. It made her skin crawl a little. This guy really wasn't her type. She made a bit of awkward small talk though as he took some measurements, called the dimensions in to the warehouse, and explained it'd be another fifteen minutes or so before the new window arrived. He had nothing but questions for her. Where she lived, how long she'd be in town, what sort of restaurants and movies she liked. She basically tried to just tell him a mix of what he'd want to hear and what would hopefully shut him down on asking her out before he worked up the nerve to ask, but really, she didn't have any reason to lie about anything. She really was up this way visiting family. No way this guy would follow her back home to Miami and stalk her. Didn't really seem like he could afford to treat her to a real good meal even if she was into him either, and of course she really wasn't into movies much at all. She was really more the long walks on the beach sort of gal, and there were plenty of guys back home waiting for her once she caught up with her brother here and flew back.
She figured Adam probably wouldn't be gone all that long since he'd managed to leave behind his phone, his keys, and his wallet. She was a bit torn on whether to wait for him though, because he was supposed to be in meetings all day afterall, and the window guys encouraged her to get out since the job was going to take a while, and one less person to avoid while carrying the fragile new window in made things a lot easier for them.
