Thanks to the massive expansion of herm species at Furfest, it was no longer very significant when a new species has been added to the roster. There was the exception when a particular addition sparked a new trend. For instance, when Paulo Saul (or Paula as shi now preferred) became a herm peafowl, shi revealed that it was possible to pair the curvaceous bodies of female Animalian with the more vibrant plumage typically found on male birds. That started a brief but notable rush of people becoming herm birds.
Another noticeable trend happened when some people became herm Dinotopians. It had originally started with the uplifting/reverse-evolution of Dakota the osprey into a herm Dakotaraptor. Shi soon convinced hir former keeper, Harper, to join hir as hir mate. Initially, the herm Dinotopians stuck with Dakotaraptors, as many people consider raptors the sexiest dinosaurs. But with the Herm Exposition, more people are taking a more daring option.

Devine was a proud tomboy. When she was a kid, she much preferred playing with dinosaur models than dolls. Her favorite dinosaur has always been the brontosaurus, which made her particularly glad when paleontologists finally decided that it was actually a separate species from apatosaurus. She had been saving up a lot of money so she could go through with the Dinotopian conversion, especially when she'll need new clothes and furniture afterwards. She was falling a bit close of her goal, but then Pride Month offered a big discount for those who wanted to go hermaphrodite. Devine thought about it. Well, she did feel more like one of the boys than the girls and they promised she'd end up becoming bisexual naturally. It was a little surprising to herself how easily she was able to compromise to the idea.
It didn’t take much longer after that to get the rest of the paperwork signed and get things ready to move to her new apartment in Mesozoic Enclave. The conversion itself was a simple process. It got a bit disorienting when her head stretched so far away from her body and her hair fell out, but she had mentally prepared for that. Though it wasn’t as easy to prepare when hir new equipment grew in. Of course, things soon got…sticky after that, but that was pretty normal for herms. Shi ended up becoming a lot greyer than shi expected, but shi supposed that also made hir more easily distinguishable from the apatosaurus who was in Dino City.
It wasn't long after Devine finished hir conversion that shi met more of hir new kind. Not other brontosauruses, but other people who took the leap of becoming herm Dinotopians. Shi wasn't particularly surprised that the two other herms were a tyrannosaurus and a triceratops. Of course, Devine had become the equally popular brontosaurus, so shi wasn't one to judge.
"Ooh, somebody wanted to go big," said the T. Rex with a big grin. It was still a little jarring for Devine to see a T. Rex covered in feathers, even if they weren't as thick compared to modern birds.
The triceratops shook hir head and said, "Don't mind Devorah. Shi was a bit of a sex fiend before shi converted."
"I wasn't that bad, Duffy," said Devorah.
"Yeah, because you were too ugly to ever get a date," said Duffy jokingly.
"I hardly doubt anyone would think I'm too ugly now," said Devorah, striking a pose. It certainly did rouse Devine's new hormones.
"So, uh, how many other herm dinosaurs are there now?" asked Devine.
"Most people are going with raptors as far as I've heard," said Duffy, "We might be the only ones who decided to become bigger dinosaurs."
"For now," said Devorah, "But as soon as people see how hot and sexy we are, I'm sure they'll be wanting to join us."
"I'm still getting used to being a herm," said Devine, "As well as walking through doors without hitting me head."
"Fortunately, Mesozoic Enclave was built for people as big as us," said Duffy.
"With plenty of sexy things for us to wear," said Devorah.
Devine admitted hir wardrobe currently consisted of the clothes shi had received from Horizon as there was no way shi could fit into any of hir old clothes now. Shi wasn't planning on showing off a lot, shi was still a tomboy at hir core. Though being a herm now meant a lot of different things, even if shi wasn't a big sauropod now.
