Adam's walk through the lushful park would've been eerily silent if not for the company of his younger brother, Cecil. He wouldn't stop talking with a passion about what kind of toys he wanted to buy when both of them arrived at the toy store on the way home.
Cecil would be cute and endearing if it weren't for the fact that he had already turned 28. He was too old to be playing with toys and his older brother let him be aware of that fact every single day. Just for the nerd to then shake his head and say something silly about them not being toys but limited action figures based on an extremely obscure franchise nobody had heard of.
Even though Cecil was the younger brother, he was quite taller than Adam, something that Adam was a bit envious of. And also much, much wider. He was starting to get too round for his own good, which is why Adam had decided to take him along for the walk. "(Gotta take my brother out on his walkies or else he won't ever exercise)". That was his reasoning.
Cecil was sweating as he talked but amazingly he never seemed to run out of breath no matter how much his large body wiggled along. "And in the middle of the second season of the show, they switched animation studios. Bro, hear me out. This forum rando told me the first animation studio was better, but I fought back by giving him a bullet point list full of facts that prove that the second studio is better!" Cecil told Adam enthusiastically, the mouth hidden beneath his overgrown neckbeard flapping endlessly. "He didn't reply, so I won the argument. I'm so proud of myself!"
Adam just nodded with little interest in what he was talking about. Cecil wouldn't stop yapping about the subjects he liked over and over like a parrot. Figurines, fantasy and sci fi TV shows and books were all Cecil ever thought about.
The older brother never thought of himself as the perfect example of a popular normie but compared to Cecil he had much more nuanced interests and was much less socially awkward unlike his brother who didn't have any friends.
As both of them continued their walk, they came across a hole in the middle of the road. "Be careful, Cecil. There's a hole there." Adam warned his brother, in case he was so absorbed in his monologue that he wouldn't notice it.
"And they didn't even put any signal." Cecil pointed out. "What a dangerous park."
The hole on the ground was slightly bigger than a manhole cover, but when Adam took a closer look at it he noticed that it didn't smell like sewage or anything at all.
Adam crouched slightly.
"Can you see what's below?" The younger obese brother asked, not daring to come too close to the dark hole.
Adam shook his head. "No, it's completely pitch dark. It must be very deep... Or... completely empty?"
"It could be one of those interdimensional wormholes that magically transfer matter over to other worlds. You know, like a portal. Hahaha."
"What? That's absurd."
"Or if you prefer scifi, it could just be a miniature black hole that swallows everything it touches just to send it to the other side of the galaxy. Just like in that movie."
"Quit kidding around." Adam stood up and left the hole undisturbed.
However, Cecil didn't stop looking at the strange gap. "Uh... Adam? Bro? You should check this out..."
"It's dangerous Cecil, don't step near it." Adam said. "(Or your weight will crumble the ground down...)" He added in his mind.
"But look, Bro, it's shining!"
Adam turned back to the hole and his brother wasn't joking. A white glow was coming from the gap on the ground. It was eerie, if not beautifully terrifying. It may have been Adam's imagination but something on the other side of the hole seemed to be moving... Was something about to creep out from inside it?
