After the Doppelgänger's visit, Beth's motivation was renewed. She HAD to get out of here, and she had to do it soon, or otherwise the creature may completely take over her identity, leaving her with no chance of ever taking it back.
Turning back was no longer Beth's priority, she had to get in contact with her assistant and have him get rid of the creature.
Thoughts shot through her mind, and she eventually settled on one potential solution.
If she could turn herself into a Golem, avoid the servants and guards, and get in contact with her assistant, without the Doppelgänger noticing her, then she could have him get rid of it, and afterwards have him help turn her back.
The reason why she hadn't considered this before was because she didn't know why she had ended up in the state she was currently in, and layering even more magic on top would make it even harder to turn back. And that wasn't just additive, it was multiplicative, and if there were already two or more layers of unknown magic, then Beth wasn't sure if she could undo it on her own at all if she added another, but she had to get out of here now, so she would have to worry about that later.
Beth had no idea how long it took, but using the few shreds of magic she could mobilize in her current form, Beth began to carve runes into her body. It may have taken hours, days, or weeks, she couldn't tell, but she made progress, and that was all that mattered.
Beth carved most of the runes into the inside of her hollowed-out body, adding various runes that would add functions that Golems normally wouldn't have, before carving the animating runes into her forehead.
Beth's contorted body creaked as it began to come back to life.
Or rather it came to life for the first time. Beth had simply turned her body into a Golem and was giving it commands.
She began to slowly shift, rocking around a bit, eventually tumbling to the floor with the loud clattering of something hard being dropped on stone tiles.
Beth felt a bit disoriented, her body awkwardly attempting to get up. After a while she changed her approach, giving her body commands like a normal Golem. This time it stood up easily with rigid, mechanical movements. Anyone watching would be unable to tell that she wasn't just an ordinary, mindless Golem, blindly following orders.
Beth considered making her movements smoother and more natural, but decided to stay like this. Making it past the guards outside the Treasury would be easier if they thought that she was just a simple Golem.
She commanded her body to walk to the entrance, pushed open the heavy gate, and was immediately stopped by the guards.
They searched her, thinking that someone had sent it inside to steal something, especially after they discovered that it was hollow on the inside, but they couldn't find anything after searching for almost an hour, and eventually gave up.
The guards couldn't figure out why the Golem had been inside the Treasury, or how it had gotten in, but they decided to send it away for now and report what had happened.
Meanwhile, Beth discovered that the orders addressed to her body by other people seemed to have a higher priority than hers, when one of the guards commanded her to 'Go to the closest storage room.'. Beth was glad that he hadn't added 'and wait there for further orders'.
After waiting in the storage room, or rather storage closet, until she was certain no one was around, Beth immediately walked out again.
She had to find her assistant as soon as possible.
