The August Issue of Animalia Magazine focused mainly on the special events of the 2023 IAC, rather than important events or holidays. But in this case, there were a few things that were tied to Animalia in one way or another.
---
The main article focused on the IAC Sporting Events as well as who won what medals in what events. While most of the events had been covered, there were still a few surprises here and there, mainly in comparison to the last IAC. The best example of this was Sophie and Roland, who had placed 2nd in the IAC Flyer Games (Dino Division), but another that was a bit more unexpected was Tyra, who had placed 1st in not only the Hunter Games, but also the Track and Field Games and Strong Dino Games.

An article that talked (albeit briefly) about world events was the Colony News segment. Because of the War in Ukraine, both Ukrainians and Russians were fleeing to the relative safety of Animalia and its colonies. However, a new wave of "escapees" was actually coming in from, of all places, China. This was partly due to so-called "financial watchdogs" claiming that China was heading for an economic meltdown due to its current leader's policies (economic or otherwise). While Heiya Island was reaching its limit, Ryouiki Island was ready to be populated, since the thousand-year-old peach tree was now part of a Japanese-style shrine to protect it, mainly from thieves after the fruits, but there were other things as well.
However, because of how many people wanted to move to Ryouiki Island, aircraft were already flying around Japan to find another "uncharted island for settling".

Another article talked about another recent trend due to travel reopening: tourists behaving badly/disrespectfully to historical sites. While most of them were recent, there were a few that were considerably older, sometimes even by a few decades. As one of the most recent cases, a few tourists were caught by "samurai policemen" trying to steal fruit from, and in one case carve their name into the bark of, the Immortal Peach Tree and were facing heavy fines from both the Chinese and Japanese Governments for their "attempted desecration".
---
The other new article talked about planned colony expansions for already established colonies. One example was the colony at Macduff's Castle. While it was initially one of the slower growing ones, the influx of Ukrainian and Russian refugees necessitated an expansion plan while still maintaining the overall theme of a "Medieval throwback" colony.

A final new article talked about the newest "addition" to Mieni Atoll: The SS Joyous Bounty. Not only did it tie into Lexia's coverage, but it also included (in the digital version) an interactive map to show where certain things were, such as Mieni Atoll's new strip club. While it did help slow down the housing boom of Mieni Atoll, a, relatively new, trend involving underwater housing units was still going strong.
