Adam and Cecil looked down at the bright portal that spiraled beneath their feet. If what Jarg the goblin knight said was true then the marvelous and mysterious world of Extensia was a mere jump away. Adam would have laughed at this unbelievable premise if a motherfucking goblin dressed in shining armor hadn't just come out from the other side of this crack on the ground.
"Sir Jarg, does Extensia look like an MMO world with RPG style quests and features 4º Edition DMD ruleset fantasy races?" Cecil asked the goblin with excitement.
Jarg's smile froze in place for a few seconds. "...I have no idea what all those letters mean but... Yeah, why not."
"Oh, man! Bro, it's a dream come true! And we just have to jump into this swirly wormhole thingy!" Cecil's moobs jiggled as he rocked his upper body, a repetitive motion he unconsciously performed whenever he got too excited.
"Cecil, calm your manboobs down for a bit." The dependable older brother said. "Shouldn't we think this through? This otherworldly and quite stinky creature we've just met may not be telling us the whole truth..."
"Aww, c'mon bro!" The easily excitable younger brother responded. "I already learned my lesson from that time a homeless person scammed me out of my allowance, this is completely different!"
"Are you two done bickering? Are you gonna jump in or what?" The goblin crept closer to the brothers, tapping his foot. He was starting to grow impatient with their hesitance. "As a brave knight I am a very busy kind of goblin, you know."
"Look Cecil, I'm intrigued about this magic wormhole too but realistically I'd have to make some preparations before we travel so far away without prior warning." Adam said. "I'd have to pack my belongings, say farewell to my acquaintances, buy some camping gear, renew my life insurance and..."
"Oh for the love of...!" Jarg had enough of them. His goblin arms were much more powerful than they looked, as demonstrated by how he easily pushed the brothers forward, shoving them down the hole.
"So long, bastards!" The goblin shouted as a farewell.
The deceived brothers screamed in surprise (well, Cecil's shriek was more like a high-pitched unmanly cry of terror to be precise) as they both descended the infinite abyss.
The hole gulped down the two grown men, swallowing their screams as they both rapidly descended between worlds. The mighty wormhole, apparently satisfied by what the goblin had offered, collapsed upon itself until there was no trace of any gap left in the ground of the calm park where nothing out of the ordinary tended to happen.
Jarg tentatively stepped on where the crack used to be. It was closed solid. No trace of any hole ever having been there.
"Heh. Suckers!" Jarg said with mockery and disdain, no longer having to fake being a noble knight. "I've finally escaped that world thanks to those two losers. Sucks to be them!"
Opening a portal between worlds had not been an easy task for a simple goblin, but closing it down had taken more time than expected. The portal would remain open until it had been used through both sides. After it was used by the goblin to escape his world he needed to send someone in the opposite direction if he wanted the portal to close and the brothers happened to be in the right place at the right time.
There were two reasons the goblin wanted the portal to close. The first one was simply so Jarg's pursuers in his homeworld wouldn't happen to come across the portal and find him.
"Oh! It's started!" The goblin noticed his green leathery hand becoming a more peachy human color. This was the second reason he wanted the portal to close. Now that the portal had closed, the connection between the worlds was now severed and his body would be adapted to match the new world he found himself in.
"Yes! I'm going to be a human!" Jarg was excited as his body grew taller, his small suit of armor felt tighter and the comically exaggerated proportions of his hands, head and feet became a thing of the past. He would start a new life here in the human world... As a human.
A human! He'd be at the top of the food chain of the world for a change! Lowly goblin no more!
He had sacrificed the wellbeing of the two brothers in the process, but Jarg didn't feel remorseful. It was only fair after how humiliating his life as a goblin had been. He was so mesmerized by his own transformation into a human being and by the prospect of his new life that he did not care for what happened to those two strangers whose (mis)adventures had just begun...
