Elizabeth decided to confront the mother and step daughter duo at their home. After all Leah was her friend and she didn’t want to risk embarrassing her in front of total strangers. Elizabeth carefully followed the two back to their house and waited until after they’d gone inside to plan how to talk to Tina and Leah.
After giving it some considerable thought she decide it would best to be honest. Leah was her friend and hadn’t done anything to warrant accusations or slander. Walking up to the door she quickly knocked three times to announce her presence. Not long after she knocked did Tina answer the door. “Oh! Hello Elizabeth are you here to hang out with Leah?” Tina asked curiously.
“Actually I was walking by the daycare when I saw Leah come out dressed as a toddler.” Elizabeth said honestly as Tina frowned slightly.
“Oh I see. Do you mind coming inside for this conversation?” Tina asked as Elizabeth nodded in response. Tina opened the door letting Elizabeth inside and directed her to the couch while Tina sat in a rocking chair.
“So what did you want to know?” Tina asked as Elizabeth awkwardly grinned.
“I just wanted to know if Leah was alright and why she was in daycare.” Elizabeth replied as Tina sighed.
“Leah said she wanted to be a toddler again and although I’m not entirely sure why she seems to be enjoying it.” Tina said as Elizabeth listened intently. “I’ve tried to dissuade her and convince her that she doesn’t need to be a toddler but she’s been very stubborn.”
Tina’s tired frown became more hesitant as spoke next. “But at the same time I’ve never seen Leah as happy as she was today.” Tina sighed frustrated before looking at Elizabeth a lost look on her face. “I’m not sure if I should even try to convince her to be a teen at this point,”
Elizabeth takes in everything Tina has said and thinks about it hard. She knows that Leah has always had troubles in school, being bullied for her height, teases about looking like a preschooler, and her own complaints about how pressured she feels. She knows Leah pretty well to guess she did this to escape from it all but is this really the right thing for her? Should she pretend to be a toddler? Or should she handle it as a teen?
