CYOTF (Human)

A stereotypical fantasy city

added by Anonymous 3 days ago O Magic

The beginning cities are a well-known trope of the litrpg isekai genre. They're usually circular, with stone borders, and adventurers frequently start their careers in these places. Of these cities, half of the isekai you've consumed have rivers running across the municipality or bordering the walls. If you follow the river you saw downstream, you might encounter a town. And besides, you need the water since this new gelatinous body dries quickly under the sun. You also start to wonder if you're really a jellyfish. If you are one, can you swim downstream instead of walking at the sides? The rapid flow of the water and the rocky river bed made you think twice about the plan before finally deciding that it was a stupid plan from the start. You never knew how to swim when you were a human, and you aren't going to try learning now.

You trodded the rocky path for hours while frequently drinking water from the river. Strangely, you haven't felt hungry since coming here. Not like you could get your own food. There are fishes, but they don't go above the water. Even if they would, you don't have the means to catch them. Foraging is out of the question since you've never been camping nor read any nature magazine about the topic. Since consuming those isekai mangas and animes, you've always wondered how easy it would be to live in another fantasy world. By now, you've realized how utterly unequipped you are. Still, there's only one path ahead, and that's forward.

The sun shone from high above when you saw a large structure in the distance. The closer you are, the more realize that it's a town in the middle of the forest. Instead of stone walls, it had huge brown timbers circling the town. Carriages line the entrance while guards check each for their passes and cargo. Since you're no larger than a cat, you easily passed beneath their feet and sneaked inside.

The town, whose name is still unknown, is filled mostly with humans in brown, stereotypical peasant attire. Men wore simple white stockings and myriad tunics, while women wore sleeveless long gowns and wimples to tie their hair. There weren't only humans. There were humanoid reptiles, furred humans, bipeds with wings, or people with characteristics in between, hybrids most likely. Still, humans compromise most of the population. Despite the differences in appearance, they shared one key similarity. Everyone looked poor. That is except for the jeweled individual whose face is plastered throughout the city. The magistrate of this place probably.
