A Game of Change

You need to pay more attention

added by Annonymous A year ago I TG

Terra was so caught up in the new sensations of her body, and feeling the roots extending under her feet, that she didn't notice the bandits until an arrow buried itself in the ground an inch from her big toe. She scrambled backwards, as two men revealed themselves from behind a tree, while the third notched another arrow, though did not draw it back.
"Look here, boys," one of the bandits said "A beautiful woman 'volunteering' to be this evening's entertainment."
The bandits laughed, as Terra backed away.
"Stop," the bandit with the bow said "Try to run, and our dicks won't be the only shafts that will penetrate you."
The bandits laughed again at the terrible joke, as the two closer bandits moved up into flanking positions, as one pulled a rope from his pack.
Panicking, Terra cried out with her mind for help from whatever was nearby. She wasn't expecting the bandit's bow to extend roots into the ground, and begin rapidly growing, sharp wood stabbing through points on the arm the bandit was holding the bow with, pulling him up as a tree grew up from what had once been his bow.
"She's a caster, take her out before she casts again," the bow wielder said, grunting through the pain in his arm.
The bandits took out their swords, and swung at Terra. She managed to dodge one, but the second grazed her arm.

It didn't hurt as much as she thought it should, but she didn't stop to dwell on it, as she took the opportunity to run. The bandits followed, but they were much slower than you, being weighed down by armour, clothing and weapons. She continued to call out for help from the forest, but she saw that she tired quicker when the forest responded, so eventually she stopped and focused on running. The bandits continued to pursue. As she was sure the bandits would catch her, she heard a bow string twang twice. Looking back, she saw both the bandits dead on the ground, an arrow through each of their hearts.

Terra looked around for her rescuer, as a woman dropped from one of the trees. Her lithe, athletic body, delicate, beautiful features and pointed ears marked her as an elf.
"Are you ok?" the woman asks "They didn't hurt you, did they?"
"No," Terra said "The forest incapacitated one of them, and I managed to run from the other two."
"Incapacitated? Is the other one dead?" The woman asked.
"I don't know," Terra said "His bow remembered it had come from this forest, and took root, wrapping his arm up and pulling him up as it grew. I didn't see what happened."
"Then we should make sure they're not coming after you," the elf said, shouldering her bow "Can you show me where they are? Or were."
