Mel growled at Beth, but Beth simply smiled.
"Sit girl," she commanded.
Mel's canine butt smacked the ground at Beth's command.
"Take it easy, Mel. You're going to be a dog for a good long while. It seems you just aren't a very nice human - quick to judge, quick to fumble your way into a mess. You could use some disicpline, for certain. So you're going to be my pet. My property. My good little puppy dog. You're going to be my animal for the week."
Mel whimpered. Beth clicked her teeth.
"No, no, girl, bad doggy. You need to behave. You need to be a good doggy and do what I say. If not, well then, you'll just have to stay a dog forever. Do you want that? To be a bad doggy and get stuck like this forever? Nooo, of course not! You want to be a human girl again, huh? You want to be a normal woman who goes shopping and has a job. Not this mangy puppy, huh? So, Mel, you little bitch, you're going to have to do what I say. You're going to have to go for walkies. You're going to have to shit and piss outside. You're going to have to play fetch and wear a collar and all those silly things that dogs do. And if you're good, I'll let you be a human again and maybe we can even still be roommates."
Beth tapped her chin. "Of course, if you don't, you'll be my roommate anyways. Maybe I'll even get a male dog to keep you company. So, what do you say, girl? Bark if you agree! Bark like a good doggy!"
Mel barked. She had no choice. She have to give in to Beth's demands. A week. A week as a dumb dog. Acting like a dog. Treated like a dog. Being a dog.
It was going to be seven looooong days . . .
