Three friends approached the strange location standing before them. It was a festival of some kind, or at least that's what the strange flyer that ended up in their mailbox implied. And it was the season of fear and spookiness and the like. And so three friend's took the gravely trail just off the empty roadway to a strange festival set on all hallowed eve. The sun had set, the horizon lingering as a pale red, and it would be a full moon tonight.
The three friends, all currently human and all destined for monster-hood by sunrise.
The first was Ryan, a 23 year old man who was lanky and tall. He had to be at around 6ft and was dressed in a simple t-shirt with a band from the 90s he didn't recognize. He was a dorky software engineer, not the sportiest outside of long walks. He ran his hand over his blond buzz-cut and sighed. He'd hope this would be fun, but something about the place stirred something inside him that he couldn't place. It was like feeling someone watching you when your perfectly alone.
Roy was 21, short and thinner than Ryan. His dark hair was messy and overall he looked and seemed to be tired. Still, he marched on in his hand-me-down clothing and sighed. He eyed all the strange stalls and venders than came into view. They were all themed on all kinds of Halloween terrors from all cultures, not just the usual, westernized Halloween frights. Taking a deep breath, nervons for no reason to his sunrise, he followed his friends onwards to the festival. A sudden spark then warmed him, his love of horror smoothing over many concerns he initially had. Roy smiled, now excited.
John was last. He picture average in appearance, but was the most nicely dressed out of the trio. Out of all of them, he felt drawn to material goods. His brand-clothing was near luxury, and where exactly he got the money was a mystery to Roy and Ryan. He flashed a smile to a few, pale good-looking guys, and a woman who seemed afraid of something before she ran from the crowd and into the woods just behind the candy stalls. It took a hearty combination of good presentation and headstrong charm, but John was the group flirt.
They all stopped for a moment, looking up at a sign pointing to all the sites to be had at the festival. It in all honestly resembled a pop-up carnival, if a little bare in places, until you saw the large scale sets and probs seemingly dropped in place. John looked up at the large, haunted house standing on top a hill. It was a little way off from the entry area, yet it seemed to shadow the entire location.
"Shit, I'd love a place like that" John said, finally taking off his sunglasses as the dusk settled in.
"It's very cool." said Roy.
Ryan grimaced at the sight. "I mean it's cool, but you wouldn't want to live there. Right?"
His friends' silence concerned him, but what the hell. It was Halloween. A man suddenly remerged from out the forest where that woman had initially ran into. He was naked, glancing at his hairy chest in sheer shock. He then turned to his own grain and seemed to panic, and speed on ahead. His teeth almost seemed too sharp, and Ryan could have sworn the man was getting hairier by the second. No, Ryan decided. That's just... of course not. The man then vanished from view.
There was a small awkward silence that followed, before the other attendants returned to their usual comotion.
"I think I'm going to love this place," Said Ryan.
Roy said nothing. Not being much of a romantic, he was looking eyes down at the grass and waiting for the situation to be over.
"Let's do something, " He finally said to break the silence.
Looking around at the sights to be had, the trio made their decision and decided to...
