"You know when they gave me my first assignment I expected somethings more exciting."
Hailey sighed dimly reviewing the school's video surveillance. A few months ago she had been human, a recent college grad looking to start her career. Now here she was, a recently turned vampires working for a secret government agency. Sighing, she began to fast forward once more through footage that morning, watching the sped up footage of a janitor mopping the front foyer. "Hey consider yourself lucky my first assignment with the DEA involved a cavity search of a drug mule."
Haileys face now screwed up, shuddering at that assignment as she glanced at Henry Mitchell. The 34 year old former DEA agent was an interesting guy to say the least. Henry had a bit of a morose sense of humor, the man chalking it up to seeing the absolute worst of humanity in his 8 years as a DEA agent. It was that sense of humor though that allowed him to keep a positive attitude inspite of his recent affliction with lycanthropy. Henry and his partner, Anna Rosario, had been tracking a meth lab in the West Virginia wilderness. What the pair found instead was a very angry werewolf.
Although the pair survived, Henry was left severely wounded. Placed on workman's compensation with injuries to his knee and back, he soon discovered that he was a werewolf. Over the course of the few months, Henry sank into a deep depression contemplating ending his life to keep others safe. If Jacob Moreland hadn't found him, Henry wondered if he would still be here.
Haileys eyes now rested on the scars along Henry's face and neck. The werewolf agent had already proved himself earlier when he helped apprehend an escaped convict in Pennsylvania. For the young vampire, she felt fortunate to work along side someone who was a celebrity inside S.P.E.A.R. "I'm surprised they have you working on this Agent Mitchell," Hailey stated. "I would've thought they would have put you on something more high priority."
"This is high priority," Henry said. "You heard what Sarah said in the briefing. Time travelers and a secret terrorist organization. If whoever did this is connected to that it'll be important." Hailey simply nodded, returning to her work as Henry continued to speak. Everything going on recently had led to Director McMillan speeding up the time table on Haileys training. While officially an agent, she was still training. For the foreseeable future, Henry would in essence be her shadow.
"Huh weird."
"Whats weird," Henry asked as he now peered over Haileys shoulder. Hailey now pointed to the footage from the cameras. In them, they watched as students and teachers now began to assume animal form. The magic involved slowly swept across the school, the two agents watching as people became anthros. Fur covered their bodies, their features shifting to become more animalistic, people gaining animal qualities such as horns or tails. In only 20 minutes the school had transformed from human to animal. That was what they were expecting. What they weren't expecting what happened next.
The video footage began to waiver. Hailey and Henry equating it to old VHS footage. The picture blurred, static flashing along the screen. This shouldn't be happening, the video was a digital recording. Just as quickly as the footage glitched, it corrected itself. The two agents seeing everyone was back to normal. "That shouldn't happen," Hailey whispered.
"So what did happen," Henry asked. "Someone altered the footage," Hailey stated. "Dont ask me how but someone hacked the video and erased what happened. That shouldn't be possible."
"Do you think it's magic," Henry asked. "Not for nothing there seems to be alot if that going around." Hailey shook her head, from her understanding if it was magic it would be seamless. No, this was performed uaeing technology, and obviously very advanced technology if it could alter a digital recording but leave no trace. "Afraid not," she sighed. "Someone hacked the schools surveillance system and altered the footage."
Henry nodded, a small smirk on his face as he looked at Hailey. "Nice work kid," he smiled. "Lets go tell Sarah what we found."
