Stephanie was excited for the party, mostly because she could spend time with her boyfriend, they had spent so much time fighting evil that she couldn’t help but act like a typical excitable girl, she had the perfect costume picked out: a sexy nurse that she was sure would get her boyfriend going, she even had a cute little nurse cap in her pin-up-girl-styled hair. She rolled her eyes to see Travis had decided to dress up as the grim reaper, complete with plastic scythe and scull mask.
“Come on, did you really think I’d be anything else?” He said.
His dumb boyish laugh was to make her forgive the stupid and ironic choice in costume, she held onto his arm and when she asked what he thought of her costume he covered his face with his mask. Jackpot! He’s totally into her dress! She thought excitedly.
Neither of the teens knew that from a far they were being watched by a dark skinned girl in an angel costume.
After making it to the party and meeting up with their friends the two of them decided to go through the haunted house. Stephanie planned to play the tried and true “scared girlfriend” routine, it was perfect.
They weren’t even halfway through the entrance when a figure pulled Travis away from girls grip. Stephanie rounded a side area behind the attraction and found Travis being held at knifepoint by a strange girl, she was dressed like an angel but she could tell this girl was anything but. Stephanie activated her wrist watch and the exoskeleton of a robotic glove surrounded her hand, she charged up a small blast and pointed it at the mysterious person.
“Don’t even think about it.” She said suddenly a serious departure from the giggly girlfriend she was just moments before.
When the angel turned to face her Stephanie could make out more of her features; she had golden eyes and her black, curly hair was dyed blue and braided into a box braid bob. She wore snake like eye makeup and black lipstick.
“And who is this? Have you been running around on me?” She asked playfully. She spoke in a bubbly tone.
“It’s all right Ste—“ the blonde boy started to say but was cut off by his girlfriend releasing her charged blast.
It wasn’t powerful enough to destroy anything and was quite enough that nobody would think it was anything but a sound effect being played by the nearby speakers. The Mystery girl turned her head and saw that a sort of shield made of water had protected her from Stephanie’s blast. The black haired girl’s heart was racing, she didn’t know why she shot. She just saw how she talked to him and her emotions just took over.
“Uhh… I’m sorry.” Was all she could think to say.
“Who’s this? She’s too weak to be a bodyguard. Are you babysitting her?” The blue hair girl said, never dropping her bubbly and upbeat attitude.
“No! He’s my boyfriend you bitch!” She stammered out blushing profusely.
“A girlfriend? You’re cheating on me with some human?” She said pushing her blade closer to Travis’s throat.
With an annoyed sigh Travis’s shadow cloak enveloped his fake costume one and he phased into the shadows and appeared between her and Stephanie.
“What does she mean cheating on her?” The sexy nurse asked pointing a half mech finger at her boyfriend.
“It’s not what you think Steph, this is Kebechet. She’s—“ he tried to explain but was interrupted by the black girl.
“I am the first daughter of Anubis! Goddess of Freshness and Purification!” She said the last part with a small twirl as she summoned nearby water droplets to shower her in glittery shines.
“…and she was promised to be my wife.” Travis finished.
“She what?!” Stephanie announced shocked.
“It’s not what you think, it was something my grandfather cooked up, but Mom and Dad decided against it when they met you.” He explained.
“Then why is she here?” The brunette asked accusingly.
“My grandfather is really old fashioned, he believed that someone like me should marry a powerful death goddess like her. But Grandpa Reaper always wants to get his way, and he’s stubborn.” He elaborated.
“Why’d you have to play so hard to get? It wasn’t easy finding you here in the past.” Kebechet said in faux sadness.
Travis retracted his dark cloak and wrapped his arm around Stephanie’s shoulder, guiding them back to the public area.
“Just ignore her, hopefully she’ll get bored and leave.” He said.
Kebechet’s expression turned distraught, she used her water powers to make herself appear to be crying uncontrollably.
“Travy! You’re so mean! Is that any way to talk to your future wife?!” She pouted.
“Aren’t you worried she might attack us or our friends?” His girlfriend asked looking back at the goddess and then to Travis.
“Nah, she loves me too much to do something like that. Remember? I can tell how people feel about each other.” He answered.
Stephanie looked back again and saw the blue haired girl was waving very femininely, she created a heart with “K+T-S=
