Working his way to the kitchen while trying to make it appear as aimless wandering, Scott took stock of his position. He had fumbled the start of his mission, hard, and now his best bet seemed to be putting his faith in Kai's plan. Which reminded him of an old parable about scorpions and frogs. If only there was no guarantee Kai deciding to sting Scott would bring him down too, then at least there'd be some solid foundation for this alliance.
Passing the living room indicated Kai at least was keeping up his end by distracting Ernesto and Jackson. Though he blushed when he could hear he was the subject of conversation.
"Yeah he really thinks the Batman ones make him look more mature," Kai said while the others laughed.
Shaking off the embarrassment as he entered the kitchen, Scott swung the fridge door open hoping to give himself some additional cover in case Kai was wrong about the camera placement.
As he barely slid down the gap between the fridge and the wall, it did seem Kai had the right idea. At least until he had to make the corner and get on the backside. It was just a smidge too tight, no matter how he angled his body he just couldn't get through. He could even see the vent from his current position, but it was too dark to see for sure if there was anything there.
If only he was a little...shit. If he wanted to get there he needed another age penalty. A year or two should do it, but that wasn't up to him. As he was pulling himself out, Scott considered the two ways to get a penalty. The first was, of course, just losing the next challenge. Then the other was the penalty for 'inappropriate behavior' that being swearing, getting caught trying to go to an off limits area, or doing something that might result in injury.
The latter would get him where he needed to go now, but would put him at an even bigger disadvantage going into the next round. That might even be what Kai wanted from this 'partnership'.
