As Ty drifted off, he found himself standing once again on the ship of the Siren's Echo.
"Oh, did I do it wrong?" He turned to see the same woman as before sitting in a ritual circle "Sorry, miss. My spell seems to have mixed you up with someone else. We'll send you back and try again."
"Wait," Ty said "You didn't get it wrong. I'm the same man that you called before. How close are you to the island where I am?"
"We've been moving in that direction as much as we can," the woman said "We need to hone in on your position more. So if you can focus better this time, we might be able to establish an astral tether to follow to the island. Just focus on me, and establishing a link between us."
Ty nodded, and tried to do as she asked, closing his eyes this time so that he wasn't distracted by outside stimuli. He felt the woman chanting, and he started to feel the long stream of energy going from his spectral form back to his body. He also felt the woman's spectral form, inside her skin, but present. He reached out to take the hand of the spiritual body of the woman, and that's when everything went wrong. His own tether went taut, and yanked him away from the ship. Still holding onto the spirit of the woman, it was pulled along with him. He woke up by the pond in his own body, seeing the woman's spirit, looking startled.
"That wasn't supposed to happen," she said, prodding her own spiritual tether with a finger "Why am I so bad at this?"
"Hey, don't worry about it," Ty said "You still have a connection to your body, right? You can still guide the ship to us."
"I don't know how to do that," the woman said "I would need to create a ritual circle, and I can't affect anything as a spirit. Do you have any knowledge of ritual magic?"
"No, I'm sorry," Ty said "Is there a way to make this astral tether visible, now that you're here? The ship could follow it to us."
"Not without a significant amount of additional power," said the woman "My spirit will consume alot of energy to make the tether visible. If I spend too much, it could either snap me back to my body, or kill me."
"How could you get more power?" Ty asks
"Draining magical objects could work," the woman said "Otherwise, a nexus of magical power could give me enough energy to make the tether visible."
