Lilith held the cigarette between her black painted fingernails, the letters H-A-T-E tattooed on each finger. The glow from the cigarette lit up her face, blue eyes that would be beautiful if not for her dead, killer stare that was enveloped by heavy black eyeshadow. She put the burning tobacco between her pouty, dark blue colored lips, a piercing on each corner with a stud just below her bottom lip. Her black hair was long and messy with short blunt bangs, the tips were a deep violet with red highlights.
She glared at the gaggle of students that entered the school from across the chain link fence she leaned on, the girls in their revealing costumes, usually with equally idiotic boys.
Lilith didn’t dress up for this pointless stupid Halloween crap, the freshman girl wore her usual black ripped up jeans and worn black boots, a hooded leather jacket and distressed denim vest kept her warm from the October cold.
She hated this party, she hated this school, she hated her foster parents, and she hated her life.
13 years ago her father went psycho and killed her entire family. He strangled Lilith in her crib but by some miracle, though she wouldn’t put it that way, she survived. With all her possible living relatives dead she went through the foster care system. The psychologists said that her father’s attempt on her life resulted in brain damage and’s severe psychological problems, as if that explained her behavior. It didn’t help that she always acted out: drinking, smoking, getting into fights, one of her previous foster parents even caught her with heroin once.
Lilith watched miserably as her classmates enjoyed themselves, she wanted to gut them all just for being normal and happy.
The 15 year old flicked her cigarette and made her way into the party. She put her hood up and walked past all the students, going mostly unnoticed aside from the occasional bump into someone. When this would happen she’d violently shove them aside, either flipping them off or throwing vulgar insults at them and continuing on. Once she made it inside the stupid haunted house she left through a side door and into the empty part of the school. From there she made her way towards front of the school that was empty thanks to the party. Earlier that week the principal had confiscated all of her weed and she knew this was the best time to get it back.
Once she got to the principal’s office she picked the lock and broke into his cabinets. Inside she found her bag that had been taken from her, inside she found her weed as well as her book. Lilith never let anybody see her with it; It was a fairytale storybook from her mother, sometimes she would read it and cry.
The girl decided to look through the other drawers and found the councilors notes from her personal file.
She read what the councilor had written about her:
“Lilith” shows a complete lack of respect for authority and has broken almost every school rule; she constantly skips class, gets into fights with students and staff, has been caught with prohibited items such as knives, cigarettes, alcohol, and elicit material. Has vandalized school property and stolen from other students. She has been suspended multiple times and shows a lack of concern for her academic career. She’s flunked multiple classes and never turns in any assignments and does poorly on tests but some teachers have noted that she is very intelligent and lacks motivation and discipline.
“Lilith” has no friends and appears to lack the ability to make any, most students describe her as threatening and unpleasant to be around. Teachers describe her as disrespectful, rude, and at times disruptive.
Her current foster parents have no control over her and “Lilith” has told me that they have been physically abusive, though to what extent is unknown as she is a compulsive liar.
From the few times she’s attended counseling I have learned that she is deeply troubled and suffers from depression and anxiety. She shows strong anti social behavior and refuses to take her prescription medication.
She had claimed to hate everyone but I suspect her to be very lonely and has a hard time relating to others. She has low self esteem and I have seen scars on her arms that suggest she had hurt herself in the past. I believe she would benefit greatly from having a positive relationship with a peer. She has confessed that she has suicidal thoughts and believes that she can never be happy and resents others for being happy.
In conclusion: Lillian Elizabeth Kane is a deeply troubled and lonely girl whose poor academic performance betrays her high intelligence. I would recommend she be put into a special program to—
Lilith stopped reading there and proceeded to burn the file with her lighter. She held the burning file until it got to her fingers then dropped it into the trash can.
The girl left the principal’s office and returned to the party through the haunted house and decided to smoke her weed in the empty tennis courts next to the haunted house.
