Jon curled around his pillow, hugging it tight like a stuffed animal and feeling the thick squish of his padding. Meanwhile, as he slept soundly, the magic started its work.
Jon’s mother had decided to stick somewhere close to her son’s wishes — while he’d wanted to be seven and a bedwetter, she’d written four instead, and so the magic started to regress her son. His Adam’s Apple retracted, leaving a smooth neck, and the little facial and body hair he’d had all disappeared into his skin again.
His limbs grew shorter and the magic changed the shirt to become a one-piece, the bottom lengthening and snapping around the bottom of the diaper, pulling the bulk in close to his body. Jon only shifted a little as the mess squished further against him, and then relaxed as the magic got rid of any control he’d had over his bladder and bowels.
Soon he was looking like a slightly larger than average toddler, sound asleep in his diaper, and with a sleepy sigh his body let go of the remaining contents of his bladder, soaking the padding thoroughly. Luckily for Jon it didn’t leak yet, but there were still hours in the night left.
Now, the magic had to decide what to do about the fact that this user had already thoroughly used the diaper before going to sleep. That was unacceptable for a normal boy of four, obviously.
So the magic slowly shifted reality to accommodate this. Jon’s dresser became a changing table, and where a normal four year old may have pull-ups, or even underwear, Jon’s was only stocked with diapers. An abandoned training potty appeared in the back of the closet, and one in the bathroom, though they appeared to have only barely been used.
Jon’s nearly adult entertainment was replaced with childish toys and games — his DVDs replaced with Disney and Superhero cartoons, and his gaming console replaced with action figures and stuffed toys.
And finally, since he couldn’t wake to go to the potty anyway, Jon’s normal bed raised up, and low bars came around the sides to stop him from falling or easily climbing out.
Finally done with Jon’s changes, the magic considered its job done, and disappeared into the night.
