After the Halloween dance, came and went, things were pretty uneventful. Spark did return Leah to being an adult, only she also aged her dance partner, Braxton up into an adult and now Braxton was a coach at the school. Now it had turned to November and everyone was getting ready for Thanksgiving. Stephanie had been depressed around the start of the holidays when Ann had initially adopted her, it was still a little hard for her to accept Ann as her new mom. But for half of the year, Stephanie's life had taken a turn for the better, she and Ann moved to a new house near a school where Stephanie could attend, made some new friends, and found a boyfriend, she had also decided to take both of her adopted mother's names. Now the biggest test for Stephanie's family was right around the corner.
"Hey, mom, uh....are you almost done with work? I wanted to ask you something." Stephanie asked as her mother was getting done with work on her computer.
"Of course sweetie, give me five minutes and we'll talk." Ann said as she finished up her work. It had been a change of environment, but Ann was finding the working at home end much better than at the office, and she would be better be able to talk with Stephanie personally.
Soon, Ann had a glass of water in the living room and Stephanie was sitting adjacent to her.
"So mom, I wanted to tell you that I was going to go spend time later in the day during Thanksgiving at Travis's house with his family. I still want to do that, but I wanted to let you know that I wanted to spend the morning with you and Jackie." Stephanie said.
"Of course dear, you're more than welcome to, we are family after all." Ann chuckled.
"Yeah, so that's the other thing, I was wondering.....can I meet my grandparents?" Stephanie asked as Ann gagged on her water.
"I...I'm sorry, what? You want to....meet....?"
"Grandma and Grampa O'Toole, yeah. It's been a few years now and we haven't really been formally introduced to each other yet." Stephanie said.
"Well....I was a little hesitant for you to meet them because my mother can be....judgemental sometimes, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt." Ann said drinking her water again.
"Great! So....does that also mean I can meet Jackie's parents too? They are kind of my grandparents now too." Stephanie asked as Ann gagged once more on her water.
"Stephanie! Please, stop surprising me with questions."
"Sorry mom, but you know, I love Jackie, more like a mom than like a sister. I've seen pictures of her parents and I think they'd be cool to meet. I mean you've met them, right?" Stephanie asked.
"Uh, that is....I have met them....in a way when I was....'your' age." Ann said rubbing her neck.
"Wait, they don't know about magic?"
"No, this isn't really something we tell everybody about. Miles and Miranda's parents don't know and they aren't looking to tell them anytime soon." Ann reminded Stephanie about her friend.
"Well, yeah, but mom, don't you think you and Jackie should be more honest with them since you guys are in a relationship?" Stephanie asked.
"Well....honesty is not always the best policy Stephanie."
"Mom, I've come to accept you and Jackie as my mothers. I've taken both of your names, I'm your daughter now, even if you and Jackie aren't married...yet, and I know you will be at some point soon in the future, I want to meet the rest of my family. You and Jackie are my only family right now, don't I deserve to know where my parents come from?" Stephanie asked.
"I....You....This is....you're.....oh, god damn it. Alright you talked me into it. I'm going to call Jackie and tell her, so we're going to get an earful from her about this." Ann said as she called Jackie on her phone.
