Laura sighed to herself as she laid the appetizers in front of her family. Uncle Lou and Grandpa wasted no time digging into the cranberry pecan cheese ball as Aunt Francisca poured everyone some sparkling cider. And that’s when HE walked in.
“I’m sorry sir, we’re closed.” Gramma said as she pushed him back, “Happy Thanksgiving!”
“No, wait! I was invited here!” Colin said.
“Oh? Ohhhhhhhh….” Gramma smiled as she looked over to Laura, “Right this way.”
“Hey Loraine, who’s there?” Grandpa asked as Colin stepped in.
“Oh goody….” Laura said with an eye roll.
“Laura, isn’t there someone you want to introduce us to?” Gramma Loraine asked.
The dark haired young man cleared his throat “Well, my name’s-.”
“Colin!” Delilah smiled as she ran in and pulled him into a kiss.
Loraine gave her daughter and granddaughter a disappointed state as she went back to her seat.
“Yo, what’d I miss?” Asked a younger guy with greasy amber hair.
“Mom’s new boy toy just showed up.” Laura said without missing a beat.
“Laura!” Delilah snapped.
“Mom invited her new boyfriend to dinner.” Laura corrected.
“Colin Greys.” He smiled as he held out his hand.
“I ain’t gonna let you call me son.” The dude said.
“Of course not, I’m 25, that’s be weird…” Colin chuckled.
“Yeahhhh, THAT’S the weird part…” the guy said.
“Jax, come on.” Delilah said, “I’d like at least ONE OF MY CHILDREN to give him a warm welcome.”
Laura turned away and stuffed some Mac and cheese bites in her mouth.
“Jax, have you seen-?” Another voice asked as it game into the room.
Colin looked over at the lanky blonde dude with slicked hair as he adjusted his tie and took a seat, “Laura, I didn’t know you were dating…”
“This is my man, Byron.” Delilah snapped as she pulled him close.
Delilah’s ex just laughed, “Could’ve fooled me.”
“And who’d you bring?” Colin asked as he sipped a spoonful of lobster bisque and pointed to the empty seat.
The conversation halted as the door started rattling. Jax sighed in annoyance and went to the front door.
“The handle turns the other way, Faith.” The brunette called.
In stepped a bleach blonde bunny who looked no older than Lisa; that curly golden mane hung down about ten inches past that barely covered ass jutting out of a pair of short shorts that’d make Jamie blush. The lacy red trim of her push up bra poked up along the shiny leather tube top that squeaked against her overflowing bust with every step, practically in sync with those twelve inch pumps. With those three and a half inch acrylic claws, it was a miracle she could even open that tube of glittery orange lipstick to plaster it over those botox airbags they called… well lips, obviously.
“Heyyyyy everybody!” Faith beamed as she sat down “Is there like, anything gluten free?”
Delilah pushed over a basic plate of cheese and fruit and handed her man another breadstick to dunk.
“I’m actually lactose intolerant, sooooo…” Faith started.
Delilah grabbed the cheese off the plate, the Brie and goat cheese getting squashed in her fingers and she chucked it onto a plate she immediately handed to Colin as he pecked her on the cheek.
‘This is gonna be fun….’ Jax thought as he poured himself some Dr Pepper…

The stellar apps were cleared away as the Montgomery family feast was laid out nice and fine.
Cob salad on the left, Caesar on the right.
A massive basket of rolls with a rainbow of jams, the molten marshmallow bubbling atop the sweet potatoes, the gravy so smooth you could see the reflection of the fluffy white chive mash beside it. Corn on the cob, velvety cranberry sauce, a pipping hot green bean casserole… and the star of the show at the center of it all; that golden basted bird glistened in the light as it rested majestically atop a bed of roasted carrot and onion.
“And what are you thankful for, Laura?” Grandpa asked.
‘Oh, one of these families…’ Colin said.
“I’m thankful to be able to share this day with my brother…” Laura started “And to see my parents being equally petty to each other.”
“Laura!” Delilah snapped.
“That wasn’t very nice.” Faith added.
“Whatever, Barbie.” Laura muttered.
“ANNNNNNND You Mr Greys?!” Grandpa laughed awkwardly.
“I’m thankful to be healthy enough to enjoy this meal with all of you.” Colin said “For the wonderful woman who saw me at the hospital every day and made all this delicious food, for all the friends I’ve made this year, and above all else for the blessed life I’ve been living and hope to live for many more years to come.”
“And I’m thankful that I met you.” Delilah blushed.
“I was gonna say I was thankful for the wine, but now I sound kinda shitty….” Francisca said as everyone looked to her.
And that’s when dinner started.
This perfect dinner from a perfect woman prepped perfectly…. until….
