Elise woke to the gentle crackling of a campfire. She made an incoherent noise as she stretched, and pushed herself up. She remembered her name, at least. And the names of the others: Mira the elven paladin, Peri the halfling rogue and Greta the orc sorceress. Fortunately, everything that had occurred yesterday was clear in her head, even her current appearance, looking like an exact replica of Mira. She got out of her sleeping bag, and went to sit by the fire, warming her bare feet. Also sitting by the fire, cooking some meat over a spit, was Greta the half orc. Out of her intimidating armour, Greta looked less scary. Only a little taller than Mira, Greta looked as if her hair had lost a fight with a swarm of bees, as she yawned, and turned the meat over. She looked over to Elise as she did.
"Morning Mira," she said, smiling "Hope we didn't give you too much of a headache yesterday with what happened in the tavern."
"Um, I'm not Mira," said Elise. Greta's eyes widened.
"Getting stuck again?" she asked "No worries. I'm sure you'll figure out how to stop that eventually. I've seen you overcome that roadblock before, and I'm sure you'll be able to do it again."
"Mira said you might be able to help me to remember things," Elise said "Can you? I want to know you, if I'm really who you say I am."
"You are," Greta said, with certainty "Funnily enough, we had almost this exact conversation when we first met. You were in a similar situation then, though in the state we found you, you decided you didn't want to remember what had happened."
"Do you think that's what happened here?" Elise asks
Greta shook her head "Even if it is, I won't be able to return memories I or the other members of our party were not present for. I can help you remember the person you were before yesterday, but I can't return the memories that led to you waking up away from us."
Elise nods. "Should we try after we've eaten breakfast?"
