Officially, the bar was open twenty-four seven, but between the time and the weather, the bar was short on customers right now. Liz was just about done restocking, she would soon have nothing to do other than chat with one of her employees. At least, that's what she was originally expecting.
With a loud bang, a woman wearing a stereotypical pointed hat and carrying a broom entered the bar. Liz brightened upon seeing her. "Welcome to my bar! It's been a while! What can I get you?"
"I will take a seltzer," said the fellow witch.
Liz looked disappointed. "Oh come on now, I know things didn't turn out the best last time-"
"A seltzer!" She demanded again.
Liz sighed and gave in, pouring her colleague a glass of sparkling water.
As a fellow witch, her colleague was naturally resistant to most of the enchantments on the bar, but since they were being enhanced directly by a leyline, they would bypass her spell resistance eventually. Without her permission, they could only affect her orientation, not her identity, and she could reverse the changes trivially upon leaving. But her last "experiment" went badly.
Ironically enough, even for normal customers who's identities were changed, poorly ending romances was actually the most common reason for changing back.
For those customers in the know, the way to block or undo changes was to order a seltzer. It would not protect her all day, but it would last long enough to talk with Liz.
What did she come by to talk about, wondered Liz.
