You open your eyes and blink them a few times before lifting your head off your desk. Rubbing them you begin to recall the events from yesterday. You had been reading a story on cyoc and had gotten an idea to use the ring.
What was it again? You were going to use the ring to… bring the stories to life?
You jolt awake as you remember the story you chose and what you picked. If the meteor arrived last night and if you fell asleep to it then that only meant one thing:
YOU WERE A MONSTER!
You jump off your chair and run to your bedroom mirror, a small body length mirror your mom forced you to get. Peeking in to admire your new monster self you’re shocked when you’re met with nothing. And you meant nothing.
There was no reflection.
“Wait… what am I?” you ask aloud. Your voice sounded the same and you didn’t feel too different. You look at your hands and body. No scales, fur, or different physical characteristics.
The only thing that felt strange was that you were really thirsty and hungry.
But you were too busy trying to discover your new monster identity to care about that. Flicking your tongue in annoyance, you’re surprised to feel a prick at one of your teeth. Lifting a finger and opening your mouth, you touch your teeth and are surprised to find two sharp teeth inside.
Fangs. You had fangs!
Piercing everything together you realize that you’ve become a vampire. And with this realization you realize that way you felt meant you now had a craving for blood. Deciding to deal with it later, you leave your bedroom to view the rest of the world.
It was seven in the morning and the sky was still cloudy, a result of yesterday’s storm. It appeared your whole family was asleep. It was Saturday and there was no reason for them to be up so early.
Sitting on the couch, you turn the TV on and quickly mute it. You flip to a news channel and see a breaking story. A cyclops in a suit was reporting about a strange monster phenomenon that had spread around the world. By now most of the world had turned into monsters and only a small percentage of humans remained. Although scientists were trying to figure out what caused the sudden changes, they were at a loss. You guess when the ring made them unable to learn about the meteors existence, it also made them unable to detect it and discover it. There was only 5% of humans left in the world now and you doubted they would remain human for long.
You turn the TV off and get up. The whole world was currently monsters which meant it was safe to assume your family was too. Should you go see what they were or explore the new monster world you now found yourself in? There was so many interesting things to do now.
