Anya thought carefully for a while. "I suppose we ought to head towards the riding school to find Dmitri."
"So, we're not going to Winds Grove anymore?"
Flicking her tail, Anya whickered. "I still hope to, eventually. But we are currently closer to the riding school, and this is a bit of an emergency."
Sassy had to agree. Traveling all the way to Wind's Grove as horses would be rather perilous with many possibilities of being captured by humans. Aside from possibly being sold for money, they might even find themselves having to serve as mounts for soldiers, or even worse, rebels.
So, the two mares readied themselves for travel. It was much easier than before as they no longer needed tack or camping equipment. These, they tucked under a thicket for safekeeping. On the other hand, Anya had prepared a simple pack that could be slung over her back with a bit of help from Sassy. It contained spare clothing and lighter supplies. Since she had no knowledge of the curse she was under, there was no telling if she would suddenly turn back mid-journey.
With that, they set off. Unlike before, they made excellent progress. In fact, Sassy found herself struggling to keep up. Witch's Ponies were bred both physically and magically to give them enhanced speed and endurance. And under a rider of Witch stock trained to channel their magic properly, they practically flew, eating up miles in mere minutes.
By the end of that day, they had easily covered triple the amount of distance. They spent the night hidden amongst the trees. Sassy had to coach Anya in how to sleep standing up like a horse. Then, as the sun rose the next morning, they set off again.
By early afternoon, they had reached the land surrounding the riding school.
