Topanga would have brought the newly-uplifted sea turtle back to Mieni Atoll, but there were a few problems. For one thing, they weren't completely sure that the cocaine has been completely purged from her system. And probably the more baffling thing was that the sea turtle only seemed to speak Spanish.
While it is still unclear how the Animalia virus gives uplifted animals such a complex grasp of human language, it typically gives them knowledge of the English language, along with whatever language is used where they are native from. That's how Topanga knew a couple of Polynesian languages. Why this turtle, who apparently decides to name herself Turquesa, could only speak Spanish. Perhaps the cocaine had addled the language center in her brain as the Animalia virus both purged and uplifted it. But in any case, Topanga was going to need a translator to be able to talk to her.
Topanga brought Turquesa with her to Lyre so that they could better treat her for cocaine extraction. She hoped the members of the GGAC would be able to help Turquesa adapt to her new life as an Animalian. However, not everything goes as planned. Topanga hadn't thought to check the weather for this part of Nevada so both she and Turquesa received a nasty little shock of how cold it was.
"Dios mío, hace frío aquí," said Turquesa, shivering.
"If you were complaining about the coldness, I agree with you," said Topanga, slapping her arms to get more feeling in them. She didn't know if Turquesa's shall was keeping her warm, but it made Topanga wish she had one if it did. This was nothing like Miene Atoll or the Mexican coast.
Fortunately, the two sea turtles weren't kept waiting long. The GACC were waiting for them at the airport, already bundled up. "Topanga, you should have brought a coat!" exclaimed Tom.
"Didn't...think I...needed one..." said Topanga sluggishly. While she wasn't completely cold-blooded as an Animalian, the cold still bit hard on her body.
"C'mon, we're taking you to the Brumation House," said Jerry, leading the sea turtles to a waiting car.

Just stepping inside the Brumation House made the sea turtles feel a lot better. The warm air was coaxing their blood to move more freely. The numbness was already fading away. And apparently there were saunas and hot tubs in the back, which Topanga was very eager to try out. But right now, she was sitting with the GACC, along with a parrot Animalian she saw in the news.
"This is Lexia," said Peter, "She came from Guatemala so she knows how to speak Spanish."
"¿Te sientes más cálida ahora?" asked Lexia.
"Lo estroy, gracias," said Turquesa.
"Well, that's one relief," said Topanga after Lexia translated, "I don't suppose you'd mine coming to Mieni Atoll until Turquesa learns how to speak English. She is calling herself Turquesa, right?"
"¿Es Turquesa el nombre que te has puesto?" asked Lexia.
"Si," said Turquesa.
"Ok, understood that," said Topanga, "It won't take long to teach her to speak English, right?"
"Picking up a new language isn't as simple as that," said Adam.
"But maybe she already knows English and it's been stuffed into the back of her subconscious," said Tom, "It might take a little stimulation to get it rolling." The others gave him odd looks. "Oh like crazier things haven't happened around here," said Tom.
"Of course, I wouldn't mind getting away from the cold either," said Lexia, "As soon as winter break starts, of course."
