It was once again, Star's turn to go up and try and roll her ball, but she was a little nervous, her 'older' sister was currently beating her and she was in last place behind her date, Deacon, who hadn't been doing as good either. Star held the ball up and was almost going to roll when she stopped and held the ball down by her legs for a minute.
"You okay?" Deacon asked. "Yeah, it's just, I thought I would get a better grip on this game. But so far, I haven't even struck one pin down yet." Star said disappointingly. "Hey, how about we help each other out on this one? This usually worked when my parents helped me. Just hold up your ball up in this stance, and aim for the little dots beside the middle one on the lane floor before you throw it." Deacon said helping Star adjust her ball and stance while she blushed a little bit.
Star took Deacon's advice and did as he suggested. Star positioned the ball just a little to the left of the center dot on the lane floor and gave it a roll and watched as her ball made it's way to the center of the pins knocking them all down giving her the only strike of the game.
"I DID IT! A STRIKE! I got a strike!" Star said happily as she jumped for joy and ran excitedly over to Deacon giving him a hug. Star broke off the hug realizing what she had just done and her face turned completely red as she ran outside of the bowling alley embarrassed.
"Star! Don't worry Deek, I'll go talk to her." Spark said as she started to get up.
"That's alright Spark, I'll go talk to her. I think I'm a little to blame." Deacon said as he went outside to where Star was sitting down.
"You've been feeling pretty nervous all night, haven't you?" Deacon asked. "You can tell?" Star asked rhetorically. "I get it, dates are kind of a scary thing, I've only been on two other dates and really they didn't really work out. I want to try to work this out with you, though. I mean, we've barely gotten to know each other. So can I tell you why I've been doing badly tonight on the game?" Deacon said as he pulled out some glasses and put them on his face.
"I got these glasses just recently, but I haven't really been wanting to wear them. I don't think they make me look like a nerd or anything, I just think they kind of make me look old, like my uncle or my dad." Deacon admitted.
"I think they actually make you look mature, very distinguished. Almost like you're an author or something. I'm pretty embarrassed by own braces, they give me this stupid lisp which I hate. I think I look kind of ugly with them on." Star admitted.
"Not in the slightest, they just help brighten your beautiful face. You know that story of the ugly duckling? Each of us can grow into a beautiful swan. I think you'll make a gorgeous swan one day." Deacon complimented as Star gave a little blush and looked over at Deacon.
Deacon and Star moved closely to each other and kissed each other on the lips. The world around them felt far away at the moment and it was just the two of them in that moment. After the kiss, Deacon and Star looked at each other with a smile as they stood up.
"Can I be honest with you though? Even though the glasses would probably help me with the game, I'm not the biggest fan of bowling. I actually suggested we go dancing somewhere, but your sister and Connor talked me into the game." Deacon said.
"Really?!" Star said surprised. "Yeah, but your sister said you would have rather done something a little easier first, she said you don't exactly have....the dancing moves." Deacon remembered Spark's words. "Ha, I have the moves, but honestly bowling isn't my thing either. I'm more into musical stuff and concerts, like classical music concerts." Deacon said. "For real? Me too. My sisters think I'd never meet anyone with similar tastes in music but what are the chances, right?" Star said surprised.
"Yeah, I know. I didn't think any girl my age would be into this stuff. Do you want to go in and finish the game?" Deacon asked. "Eh, actually I want to do a little more of this." Star said as the two kissed again.
"By the way, how about next time we go dancing?" Deacon asked. "Dancing? oh my...yes, that would be...magical." Star said as they continued to kiss with Star's head swimming with excitement for her next date.
