Chronivac Version 4.0

Jeff's Steady Slide into Stupidity

added by ShiftyGrad A month ago O Mental

As he considered his options, an idea popped into Jeff's head. What if he made himself dumber over time? Rather than experiencing a sudden loss of intelligence, maybe it would be more interesting to have his brain slowly drained. Looking at the settings, Jeff saw that it would be easy to set his IQ to steadily decrease, at a customizable rate. Wondering what the Chronivac meant by IQ specifically, Jeff hit the information button.

Slowly losing IQ would cause Jeff to forget what he'd learned in school, as well as his common sense. While that did sound interesting, Jeff had a different idea. After some more exploration, Jeff found that he could have his knowledge replaced by nonsense. To him, that seemed closer to the idiot experience. "Stupid people sure love to talk, even if they don't know a thing about the subject..." Jeff said to himself. He smiled as he began to set up his change.

For the next week, whenever Jeff heard or read something that was false, he would ardently believe it to be true. His memories would be altered so that he learned the false fact instead of its real counterpart (if applicable). He'd be conscious of the change in memory, but, obviously, would only remember learning the misinformation. Reality wouldn't change, so Jeff's condition would be noticeable to his friends and family. But, this is where the second part of the change came in: whenever Jeff stated a false fact he believed to be true, anyone who heard it would believe it as well, being under the same change as him. And if they repeated that fact, it would be believed by anyone who heard them, and so on, with the falsehood spreading like a virus. After a week, this condition would end on any affected individuals, and their brains reset back to normal.

Satisfied, Jeff chuckled. This was going to be fun. He'd become dumber and dumber, while lowering the intelligence of the people around him. "If this thing even works, at least," he said. Jeff pressed "Confirm," and waited as a loading bar appeared. It rapidly filled, and as it did, Jeff felt a tingle in his mind. It wasn't too unpleasant, but definitely a first. After about five seconds, Jeff's brain was rewired to be a sponge for misinformation.

"Well, I guess I'd better see if it worked. Maybe I should look up something stupid and see if I believe in it. Or, perhaps I should just go downtown and pry on people's conversations. So many options!" Jeff said with a chuckle. He decided to...
