Nate was confused. His mind wouldn't catch up to what had just happened. All he knew was that he was currently wandering in a maze. Stranger still, there was this uncomfortable feeling inside him as well. It was almost telling him which way he needed to go. Whenever he would come into a crossroads, his mind would tell him the answer before he was able to properly question it.
Eventually he came upon someone speaking. "Colby, you idiot!" the voice scolded himself. "Of course they'd ditch you!"
Nate followed the sounds of the voice. He'd picked up the pace. Loud clicks and clacks from his hooves echoed off the stone walls. The nagging feeling only grew the closer he got to whoever this was. He let out a loud roar.
"ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING!?" Colby screamed. "There's three of them and you come for me!?"
The words meant nothing to Nate. All he wanted to do was destroy whatever this creature that was giving him a strange feeling. He watched as it ran away. 'Pitiful human,' the giant minotaur scoffed. His massive legs easily broke the distance between him and the human. He raised his axe high into the air.
Colby tripped, just barely missing the sharp end of the axe. It cut a bit of his cloak, but at least for the moment that didn't matter. He needed to save himself first. A few magical words escaped his mouth followed by a puff of purple smoke.
Nate's nose twitched. His mind went blank for a few seconds. Then he looked back down at Colby. "What Nate do?" he asked. A dull confusion laid in his eyes. He couldn't seem to focus properly as he looked down at the human.
"Is Nate you're name?" Colby asked.
"Me Nate," Nate answered. "You human."
"Colby," Colby corrected. "By the gods in heaven I barely got that spell off," he breathed. There were several more as he tried to regain his strength. He'd fallen against the wall and was grabbing at anything to help steady him.
"Human say weird things," Nate scratched the back of his head. "Nate confused."
"It's okay big guy. We're friends," Colby tried to act confident. He was going to tap the minotaur on one of his massive biceps, but didn't know if that would be considered an attack or not. "Or at least until the spell ends..." he said under his breath.
Nate shook his head. He didn't understand what was going on. All he knew was that he had this strange compulsion to start walking through his maze again. "Nate defend home. Friend go home," he stated stupidly. Then turned around and started walking.
Colby quickly ran in front of the hulking beast. "Actually! You were going to show me something," Colby said. He may have been chancing it, but this was the only one he was going to get.
"Show human. What show human?" Nate asked.
"Your treasure," Colby answered. "You wanted to show me the treasure in the middle of the maze!" He kept his excitement up, trying to keep his fear down. It helped explain the rapid heart rate he was going through.
Nate's brain was too foggy. He couldn't concentrate. On the one hand he knew he wanted that treasure that Colby spoke of, but didn't know why. On the other, he had humans in his maze that he needed to get rid of. Then there was this human who for some reason he didn't want to get rid of following him.
