Jenn’s legs were on fire, it was the like the worse athletes’ foot she ever had and it was on her both of her legs. She was all but ripping off her blue jeans as she tried to get ride of this itch. She looked at her girlfriend and her roommate and her girlfriend and while they were all starching their legs none where as bad as she was.
“Screw it.” Cursed Jenn as she pulled down her blue jeans and began to starch her legs as hard as possible. Her fingernails digging into the flesh.
“Was there something in the damn water!” added Carmen, she hadn’t had to pull down her own jeans but her hand was under the waste band of her cargo shorts going to town on her upper legs. Kelly and Olivia weren’t scratching yet but their hands were turning white as they tried not to scratch, their teeth were clenched hard.
“I don’t know.” Yelled Jenn as her fingernails dug into her flesh and to everyone’s horror Jenn’s flesh came up. Like ripping off a strip of tape from a box two long strips of flesh came off Jenn’s legs. Blood covered her legs as instead of showing bright red dermis which was the second level of skin, through the blood and remaining pieces of flesh in the strips where rather beautiful Azura blue scales.
Jenn just stood there for a second holding two long strips of her flesh in either of her hands, the flesh was about 3 inches wide and at least a foot long.
“WHAT THE HELL!” yelled Jenn as suddenly scratching the itches which where last things on any of their mind.
Jenn dropped each strips of flesh and stumbled backwards landing her ass in the sand. Seconds later a rather large wave washed up over Jenn and everyone else. Washing away the blood from Jenn’s legs and to everyone’s amazement the itchiness didn’t stop per say but it was much less.
“Well, I guess the only thing to really say is welcome.” Said a voice as all four young women turned toward the source of the voice only to see a figure sitting on a small coral rock only a couple of feet off shore.
The women looked to be in her middle 30’s or so and had golden curls that ran down pass her shoulders, her metallic silver scales covered her rather large chest, some on her arms and around her neck. Pointed ears came out of her hair and gills where visible on her long graceful neck. A silvery mermaid tail grew out of her hips and disappeared under the water but was still clearly visible.
She was a dead ringer for the mermaid on the poster.
“What the fuck an actual mermaid?” inquired Carmen
“Yes…” said the mermaid rolling her eyes a bit. “Mermaids are real…well here they are. You aren’t on Earth anymore, you got sucked through a portal to our world and the painting or whatever you had which showed a mermaid was actually a link which brought you here and to me. Once you have been around it long enough the portal opens and brings you and anyone else who happened to be nearby to this world. Judging by how one of you already has scales coming in, she was the one around the work the most.”
“Then how do we get home?” inquired Olivia
“You can’t.” answered the mermaid “And in a little bit you will all be the newest members of our race and I can explain in more details. Until then you can call me, Theodora.”
