I’m surprised that Brad invited Gabe to the party. Although I supposed it is out of formality, Gabe is a nerd that skip a grade and is one year younger than the both of us. He tutor us one time so we could past our respected classes with Math for me and English for Brad. I was glad to gain him as a friend but sadly Brad only sees him as an acquaintance at best. He was wearing an odd outfit as his costume and seems to enthusiastically trying to get my attention.
“Gabe come on up.” I announced as he got up and head onto the stage.
“Welcome on stage Gabe. Have to admit you are very brave.” I said as Gabe got on stage.
“I figure I’m safe since you did the worst things you can do already.” Gabe answered with a smiled.
“Will see I can do plenty more.” I answered ominously before smiling. “I’m a bit curious about your costume though. It looks a bit old fashion.”
“It’s a hand me down constantly repaired and kept in good condition. It’s was worn by the French during the late 18th to early 19th century.” Gabe said and I could tell there was excitement in his voice. So I decided to stoke that.
“Oh tell us more bet there is an interesting history behind that plus it would give me an idea of what to do in this trick.” I said as I knew Gabe would go off on a tangent. History is one of few none anime/manga/video game things he would go off on a tangent about.
“My ancestors were immigrants fleeing France during the French Revolution.” Gabe said before adopting a somber tone. “Over the years we keep forgetting our heritage. First traditions then traits I mean look at me I’m a white with dark blonde hair. Only thing my family kept to this day is giving the kids French names.”
“Really?” I asked as I formulate my trick.
“Yeah Gabe is more of a nickname but my full name is Gabriel. However my parents kept voicing of letting naming tradition die but were convinced by my grandparents to continue it. In fact they’re the ones who insisted on calling me Gabe instead of Gabriel while my family calls me Gabriel.” Gabe said which made me realize how strange and awkward his family was when I was invited to his birthday months ago. I finally decided on my trick.
“Okay thank you for telling me that.” I said as I position myself so my side to the audience. “Now stand in front of me with your back facing to me.” I instructed as Gabe complied. I then wish up an hand mirror in my hand.
“Now please hold this as if you’re looking yourself in the mirror.” I said as I reached over and handed Gabe the mirror. He took it and did as I instructed as I got back in my position. With my thumbs I started to poking part of Gabe’s back where I knew where the spine is. My right thumb traveling up while my left thumb traveling down.
“What are you doing?” Asked Gabe out of curiosity as I finished poking. I grabbed Gabe’s shoulder with my left hand and with my right hand my index & middle finger together.
“Was opening the flow now for the final touch.” I answered as I poked the middle of Gabe’s back/spine with my fingers. I let go with my left hand as Gabe looked at the mirror confused. Then as if a wave started traveling across his skin. It wasn’t visible underneath the clothes but as soon as it reach his neck and hands it was more obvious.
Gabe shrink to 5’7” as his skin seemed to darker a bit some would call it olive and when the wave overcame the top of his head; his hair change. His hair went from a short dirty blonde hair to a short curly dark hair. When he was done changing he was shocked as he put the mirror down and looked at me. I admit he was more hansome than he was originally was when I noted his eye color had went from a blue color to a hazel color.
“Qu'est-ce qui se passe... Qu'est-ce que c'est?” Gabe started to say as he caught himself then clear his throat. “Did I spoke French?” Gabe asked in a French accent.
“Yep now you’re mostly blooded Frenchman.” I announce earning applause from the audience. Gabe however looked like he was going to freak out.
“What will my parent’s think?” Gabe started to asked. I lean over closer to him.
‘Don’t worry to the outside world you’ve been always French plus your family history is changed. Now your dad and mother are French. You a combination of odd coincidence relationship where your father’s side of the family coincidently married a French woman.’ I whispered to him as I backed away.
‘Thank you.’ Gabe mouthed to me. I turn to faced the audience.
“Give it up for Gabriel everyone.” I announce as Gabriel took a bow and the audience erupted in applause. Gabriel stood back up and head back to the audience. As he was heading to his seat he was grabbed by a group of girls who forced him to sit in the empty seat near them before bombarding him with questions. From what I can tell that they were asking him to tutor them but I smiled knowing those girls wanted something more than that.
“Madames. Madames. I’ll be happy to tutor you all let’s start out with a group of five and work from there.” Gabriel said in his French accent causing the girls to swoon while most of the guys looked on in jealousy. Luckily for me Monique wasn’t interested but surprisingly Brad was still missing.
‘Where is Brad?’ I thought to myself. It was odd; Brad is the Birthday boy but now he has missed half the show. Even his mom who despite to seem upset over losing Monique as a maid earlier is now enjoying the show. I felt offended by Brad’s absence so I decided to due one final trick to vent out my frustrations.
“Okay folks I think it time for the final trick. Now for this trick I need a good looking guy. Any Volunteers?” I asked the audience. To my surprised several guys hand shoot up and most are good looking.
