Amanda didn’t know where in the world she was, she had been walking out of the barn that her college owned for their Equestrian team before a blinding light from the office made her stop in her place. Then without her control she began to move forward, opening the door to the office as wide as it could go before walking in. It had been a small office, more of a place for everyone to put their book bags then an actual office but she walked in. She didn’t hit a desk like she should have, she didn’t hit a wall like she for sure should have.
When the light began to fade, she was standing on top of a small hill surrounded by other small hills, some covered with woods and others grasslands. She could make out mountains in the distance and she could also see a small river that bent around a hill before disappearing. The grass was tall and clearly wild in nature, in fact the land seemed free of any signs of humans. No roads could be seen, no airplane in the sky above, only pure nature. It was rather beautiful.
“Where are we?” inquired Marcus
“I don’t know.” Answered Amanda as she turned around to see Marcus, Luke, Lucy and two other members of the team.
One of the members was Wendy, a native American woman who had come from Colorado. She had reddish skin with silk black hair which went down to just past her blades. She was a skilled rider and extremely proud of all the ticks she knew how to do from the back of her horse. She had won more then a handful of events with those tricks and even joked that maybe she should have gone into show business doing those tricks for movies and the like then university.
The other member was Ben, he was new and had only really started to ride. He was more of the teams resident veterinarian. He was a two years ahead of Amanda, so a senior to her and everyone else's sophomore. His thick glasses and the like gave off the impression of a nerd and he was but he knew his stuff and was kind even if he was shy to the point he was scared to talk sometimes.
The thing that really threw her off was that all their horses had followed them through.
“Daisy.” Said Amanda as her horse came up and nudged her. She still had the blanket that Amanda had thrown on before she left the stall. But wasn’t the stall locked? Well that was the least of their worries.
“Anyone got a signal?” inquired Lucy as she pulled out her cell phone. Everyone quickly followed and there where no bars.
“No.” answered everyone.
“Well.” Said Amanda as she took command, she was the team captain. “We don’t know where we are, but we at least have our horses, lets mount up and try to find some civilization.”
“Agreed.” Stated Luke
“Amanda, take my saddle, I can ride bareback.” Offered Wendy as all them, mostly the guys shared a look like they wanted to do a joke but didn’t feel the time was right. Wendy quickly got the idea. “Not that way, you idiots…well not right now at least.”
They mounted up and headed down the hill, toward the river.
It was actually a perfect ride, if it wasn’t for the fact that they had no idea where they where it would have been among the best rides in Amanda’s life.
Little did they know the ride would forever change them.
