The sun was high in the sky as the bus finally arrived at the camp site.
"Well boys here we are!" The driver said on the intercom to his passengers.
The passengers consisted of a group of teenage boys, varying from 12 to 16 years old. They all went to the same school and all jumped at the possibilty of going camping, even if it was for some weird experiment. To be honest, most of the boys just went along so they didn't have to do any homework!
Lucas was one such boy. When the opportunity came around, he jumped at it. A whole month camping out with his friends, away from his busybody parents.
Lucas grabbed his bag and got off the bus, where he and the rest of the boys gathered infront of their guide.
One of the guides clapped his hands, getting everyones attention, after the bus rode off again. "Well boys, here we are! in the middle of the jungle! Once again we would like to thank you for volunteering so much! As soon as we get you settled in, we will also leave you alone as well. Not to worry we will be keeping an eye on you and step in as soon as anything dangerous happens, but as promised you will have the rest of the time without any adult supervision!" the man said, as the boys all cheered.
Finally! Freedom as much as you can get, Lucas thought! The 14 year old boy, brushed his hand through his brown hair, trying to straighten it after sleeping on a static bus chair for hours.
The day went by as the guides and the boys all set up their tents and got instruction about the food, which would be airdropped each week in the clearing just underneath the camp, which would be retrieved and distributed by the guides, who were staying on the other side of the river, just to the west of the main camp.
The intention of the experiment was still kind of unclear, all the boys knew is that it would be like a holiday with absolute freedom, having not to worry about anything!
After setting up and having dinner the time was finally here.
But before they could have their so desired freedom, the boys were once again called to attention by one of the guides.
"Well I hope everyone has had a wonderful meal! As you all know by now, the experiment is about to begin, and the guides and myself will leave you be. However, before we do so, we do want you all to take some medication, this is against any infections or other nasty things that might appear in the jungle!" the guide said, as the others started handing out pills and bottles of water for the boys.
"Here you go, sweetheart" one of the female guides, gave Lucas his pill and a bottle of water to wash it down with.
Lucas didn't waste any time, he put the pill in his mouth and took a big swig of water.
The main guide, once again attracted the boys attention. "Now, boys, Enjoy!" he said, as the kids cheered, and the guides left.
