Mikhail straightened up, thoughts racing. Glancing over at Theia, he was glad she had not left yet, too preoccupied with nursing. Still, he needed answers, and the only ones with any were currently horses.
So, with a sigh, he cast a spell to turn into a horse. A few moments later, a handsome Witch's Pony stallion had taken his place. He was chestnut in color with a striking blaze running down his nose.
Flicking his mane, he turned and neighed at Theia, telling her to stay put. Seeing his horse form, she pricked her ears in curiosity, not to mention a bit of attraction, but she obeyed. Mikhail then looked back at Aurora. "Tell me, miss, are you truly a human?"
Shuddering in relief, she nickered an affirmative.
Mikhail shivered also, but rather in horror. What had he just done to another human being? Lowering his head and letting his tail droop, he replied, "I am very sorry, miss. Had I known, I would never have...I have committed a great wrong."
"Apologize can wait, Mikhail. Just get these spells off me."
Did she just call him by name? It would normally be an alarming breach of etiquette, present circumstances aside, unless...no. It could not be! Yet, the mare was meeting his eyes intently as if she was holding back. He already knew the truth, and they both understood that.
Barely able to muster the right spell, Mikhail shifted to human form and ordered in a choked voice, "Release her from the spells! Now!"
The stablehands did as he commanded and stepped back. Thankfully, the mare had enough self-control not to throw another fit. Instead, she blurred and shrank into her human shape, revealing to all her true identity. Then, without waiting for a reaction, she ran over to her filly, her daughter, and threw her hands around the little foal, weeping.
Mikhail fell to his knees in shock and anguish. Thus, the two Copperstone siblings were reunited.
