While Animalians have been watching the Superbowl since they first came into, they've had little involvement with it. But this year, things were a little different. Since it was being held in Las Vegas, it was much closer to home than usual. While obviously, Animalians couldn't compete in the game itself, they were certainly allowed to help entertain the crowd.
The halftime show was where Animalians really got to shine. Of course, there was a lot of practice that went into that, more than what could be done in a week. Ever since the announcement of where the Superbowl would be held and who would be performing, the Animalians who wanted to participate have been working with the musicians and other dancers to get their moves down pat. And coordinated choreography can be a lot more challenging that music videos make them look.
There were several blue jays and ravens that were doing the dancing in the early part of the halftime show that called for some feather dancers. There were originally going to be some peacock girls, but peahen Animalians keep the more drab coloration of their mundane counterparts. The one exception, Paula, was busy down in Rio de Janeiro getting ready for the big Carnival parade. Word had it that Paulo had converted enough herm peafowls to form a flock, or an ostentation as a group of peacocks is called. But events have been too focused elsewhere to pay too much attention to what was going south. Other Animalians served mainly as backup dancers for the main performers.
But it was the Cheerleading Squad that Animalians really shined. The Animalians weren't particular supporting one team more than the either. If either of them had an animal-based mascot, it would be a different story. So they wore blue and green uniforms completely unrelated to the playing teams. So their cheers weren't really directed towards either team to urge them on, it was more towards the fans to rile them up. And by the way the fans were hollering, it was effective. Of course, seeing busty Animalians in cheerleader uniforms would excite just about anyone.
The success of the Cheerleading Squad was particularly gratifying to its captain and founder, Audrey. While it may be some time before Animalians can fully integrate into professional sports, she hoped that Animalians can start being integrated into official cheer squads, and not just to save on mascot costumes.
