Animalia Magazine: Leaping Dragons...

added by makutamon990 3 days ago O

The February 2024 issue of Animalia Magazine was called the Leaping Dragons edition because of both Leap Year and Lunar New Year, both of which were happening in February. There were also some other articles that talked about other things like Valentine's Day.

---

One of the things about Valentines Day that was discussed and/or debunked in the article was the myth that birds chose their mates on Valentine's Day when, in actuality, such an event would take place in March, April, or even May, during the springtime, when food would be more available.

Another thing that was discussed in the article was the origin of the so-called 'Valentine's heart', which actually was a bit more ambiguous, with ties to both medieval symbology, poetic inspiration, and the seed pods of an ancient plant called Silphium, which was well-known as a contraceptive at the time.

---

Another article talked about the dragon and its various places in symbology and mythology, both in the East and in the West. This was considered an important article since it helped explain some things about dragons that would otherwise be confusing, such as why they were reviled in the West and revered in the East.

---

A third article talked about Leap Year, and how it got started, as well as famous events and unusual traditions.

It also talked about how those who were born on February 29th would have to wait at least three years for a birthday party. Not only that, but the article also talked about famous people (both real and fictional) that had birthdays on Leap Day.

---

A final article talked about the planned "Heiya Prefecture", as the islands between China and Japan were collectively, yet unofficially, being called. It also covered the reason why Japan and China fought over this group of islets, though in recent times, China was fighting with the West over Taiwan, though for different reasons.

A sub article talked about Ao Guang Island and its planned development into a tropical resort staffed by Animalians. While Aiko was still waiting on getting the resources needed for her planned hotel/casino/brothel/etc., she was already accepting job applications for various positions. Of course, this started another one of those internet rumors that she was offering double-dosed conversions in order to get the well-curved, well-muscled shape for her staff. Even though both internet detectives and Aiko herself pointed out that this was more 'teenage fantasy' than fact, it didn't stop it from being spread around the internet.
