Parker joined the other children in the cabin, getting into to Spiderman Underoos that Lucas gave him. It was odd being led by a little boy who was apparently minutes older than he was, yet it all seemed natural. The fact that the boy who had been his son was still here, happy and healthy, told him that whatever changes had been made to him had not hurt his family. And being 5 years old was incredible. He felt full of energy, eager, amazed, and happy all at once. Much had been lost already - only the basic numbers and letters were still retained, and he had forgotten whatever his profession was. Maybe he would end up exactly what he looked like - Lucas' 5-year-old twin brother.
Lights were out, and the other boys were all sleeping when Parker woke. It seemed silent, but he picked out a purple glow near one of the windows. Staying still, he watched the light move over the other kids, until it hovered above him and then sat up. The glow came from a small figure, a teen boy with wings and purple hair. Though he would not normally have believed in magic, the fact he was a little boy was pretty convincing. The fairy looked at him with a curious smile. "You know what I am and what I have done. Do you not fear what I am here to do now?"
Parker swallowed hard. This being, as harmless as it might look, could change him into an animal, a tree, or a puddle of water. "Um, I know you made me like this. And I guess you though I might be upset? But you seem to have made sure my son is fine, regardless of if you planned that or not. And I really like being 5 years old again. SO, um, thank you for this, Even if you take it all away now, I have enjoyed this day."
Puck cocked his head, surprised to hear his victim express gratitude. "You like being without power, without knowledge? You like being a child who soils himself at night? The junior of two children, not even unique in your looks?"
Flushing with embarrassment, Parker looked down and sighed. "Um, it sounds crazy. But yes. To all of that."
Puck looked at the small boy thoughtfully, then grinned. "Then you shall have all of that. And your brother."
"My brother?" Parker furrowed his brow. "He is already a little boy."
Now the Fairy's smile turned dark. "And both of you will stay that way." He worked the magic much more carefully than he had the night before, this time making sure the job was done. Parker watched, obviously worried. Puck grinned. "You and your brother are 5-year-old twins forever. Fifty years from now, a hundred years from now, the two of you are still going to be little boys, both physically and mentally. And all those around you will believe you are little boys as well."
Parker wrinkled his nose, unable to understand. His mind had already been affected and he had the cognitive ability of a child, even if he remembered being human. Then his eyes brightened and he grinned, showing the gap of his missing front teeth. "You're magic!" Then the boy looked troubled again. "I was a big person before. And you made me little like this?"
Puck nodded and leaned in conspiratorially. "And you and your brother will always be like this. Parents will become Grandparents, then Great-grandparents, you may end up as wards of the state, orphans, but always identical little boys." Parker was confused - he knew that was maybe bad, but it was hard to feel bad about being a kid. He shrugged. "OK. Um, thank you?"
This earned a laugh from the Fairy, who made a gesture and the little boy fell asleep again. "You are most welcome." He grinned and flew off, leaving the forever twin little boys to their permanent childhood.
