To Leah's delight, she wakes up in a dry diaper. Given she's wet herself each time she sleeps for days now, however, she's certain she had a change during the night. Hopefully it was just for number one, not number two.
Leah feels a pressure in her tummy. She stands in her crib and bends her knees into a squat, acting on instinct. Her body moves of its own accord, suddenly pushing...something. Leah doesn't realize what's happening until she feels a log begin to enter her diaper. Her eyes widen in shock. She's pooping herself without meaning to! While awake!
By the time daycare worker Julia comes to get Leah, she's unconsolable, screaming and sobbing in her sagging diaper. She continues to cry as she's changed, dressed, and fed. Julia brings her to the play area, where she continues crying. A small hand touches her shoulder. Leah looks up through her tears.
"Why you sad, Weah?" Ivy asks.
"I- I make boom-boom in my diapy," Leah replies, the toddler speak coming to her without trying.
"It okay. That what diapy for!" Ivy says cheerfully. To demonstrate, she bends into a squat and begins to grunt. Leah giggles as she watches her friend make a poopy in her diapy. When Ivy finishes, she's whisked away for a change. After she returns, the girls go outside to play. Ivy is so much fun! Leah doesn't care about or pay attention to her diapy while they're playing together.
"Weah, you making poopy!" Ivy giggles at one point while they're in the sandbox. Belatedly, Leah realizes her friend is correct. Like in the morning, she has bent into a squat and begun to push a turd into her diaper. But this time, Ivy had to point out that was what she was doing. Thankfully, Ivy wets herself in solidarity, keeping Leah from spiraling.
Leah enjoys the day as best she can. The workers are talking about how empty the daycare will be tomorrow. No doubt this is the last time she'll see Ivy. She has to treasure it while she can.
Sadly, the day ends. Ivy's mom picks her up. Leah dodges the worker trying to grab her to change her yellowed, sagging diapy. She runs up to Ivy's mom.
"Hug Ivy?" she asks timidly. Ivy's mom chuckles and sets Ivy down. Ivy and Leah embrace. "Bye, Ivy."
"Bye Weah."
"She'll see you on Monday," Ivy's mom says. Leah waves goodbye to her friend, knowing that won't be the case. Monday, she'll be back at home. As Ivy's mom leaves, Leah lets out a loud fart. Her bowels empty into her diapy. She toddles to the worker that tried to grab her before.
"I poopy."
"I see that. Let's get you changed, okay?" the worker says. Leah obediently waddles after the worker for her diaper change. Tomorrow was the last day she would be in diapers. She couldn't wait.
