Jay quickly made his way to his old neighborhood, keeping his new purchase in his backpack. He was excited. He had no idea what he was going to do with the vials yet, but there were so many possibilities. Jay waved to the neighbors as he passed their houses, and walked up to the front door of his home. He took a deep breath and knocked.
There was the sound of shuffling behind the door just before it opened, and his mother gave a cheerful gasp as she looked him up and down. “Jacob!” She exclaimed, hugging him tightly.
Jacob grinned and returned his mother’s embrace. Amelia “Mel” Quinten was shorter than him, maybe 5’4, and she had a mature figure. She had the same brown hair and blue eyes as Jacob. Finally Amelia let go of him, still smiling proudly. “Girls! Look who’s here!” Jacob stepped inside and happily greeted his two sisters.
There was Summer, his older sister, who was attending graduate school from home. She had blonde hair, sharp features, and stood around 5’7 tall. She stepped forward. “Hey little guy.” Summer hugged him tightly.
Finally Sophie rounded the corner and gave him a shy grin. She was 18 and just finishing high school. She had dark brown hair, soft youthful features, and stood at about 5 and a half feet tall. “Hi Jay.” Sophie gave him one last hug.
The family caught up with each other, asking about what was going on in each other's lives. Eventually they sat down and ate dinner together. After they had chatted and finished their meal, the family started splitting off to wind down and go to bed. “Goodnight sweetheart.”
Amelia got on her toes so she could kiss her son’s forehead, and gently squeezed his shoulder as she went off to bed. When everyone was asleep, Jacob finally pulled out the Beastmen Brew, his hands shaking with anticipation.
He opened the box and found a set of vials, labeled through pictures of the animal they represented. He was thinking about what to do when his phone buzzed, and he received a text from Terry, his friend from college. Jacob left the vials where they were and started texting his friend. Minutes turned to hours, and eventually he felt his eyelids grow heavy. Yawning, he turned off the lights and started heading to bed.
He thought about what had happened that day.
