Aileen felt accomplished in her life... She was around 70 or so and really starting to feel her years. The magical staff she had used to channel unearthed magics into reality... was now a somewhat glorified walking stick. It also kept any thieves or muggers from getting any bright ideas, and it still held the might of an insanely powerful magical focus... but it was nice and sturdy and Aileen could lean on it as much as she wanted. She still smiled as she could proudly have called herself an [Archwizard] that may come around once in a millennia. Aileen cursed a bit as she walked her way to some [Senator's] house... Damn ingrate brat couldn't have splurged for a lift or something? She may have retired, but it wasn't like she couldn't level the entire City if she felt like it. She entered and then some servants escorted her to a living room where...
"Jessica?" Aileen asked, her eyes weren't what they used to be... "[Eagle's sight]... You don't look a year over 25!"
Jessica's form was slumped over a plush couch as she said "A [Slut] tends to get skills to help with that... and they scale." Aileen felt tempted... Like her sex drive just jumped from being in Jessica's presence. "I pulled a few strings with some of my grandkids... and we're here to talk... We both know I'm not as young as I look, and I fear tonight one of two things will happen... Either I sleep and my heart will stop, or... something...I just wanted to talk to you before the end happens. The one I might have called my best friend."
"That was over 60 years ago! Drop it, by the looks of things you've got the entire city eating out of your palm."
"60 years... and I still don't think I've made up enough from the shadows..." Aileen looked quizzically "...In your life how Lucky have you been? The number of narrow misses, opportunities that arose... It all wasn't me, but I've always tried to help while rising in my own way. Why don't you use your [memory scan] spell? There's never enough time, especially out our ages..."
Aileen's staff glowed and she took in the information that Jessica was feeding her, and with her spells and skills she couldn't be fooled with false things. When they first really met with that [Appraisal] spell... that night... graduation night... How Jessica felt about what she did to herself, the year of self-loathing, the year of starting to level up that [Slut] Class, the years of finding ways to put the right person or item right into Aileen's way, how a certain orphan with high magic aptitude would cross her path and start a nearly motherly and daughterly relationship... and two words that permeated all of Jessica's thoughts involving Aileen "NOT ENOUGH"... then memories that were faded of a little child in a completely different world, of a little child lost an unsure of her place in a Draco city, and then the most vivid memories only experienced through special skills. The promise of the thing behind classes and levels. Then there they were. Aileen's heart jolted enough to nearly give her a heart attack as it seemed like she was staring at the same girl holding a knife debating ending her life then and there. Aileen had to wonder how much of her existence was "real".
"...You know... I never could feel when Enough was coming close... Nearly got close with a Chronomancer, but even then there would be some amount of past... I want to make things right as I can... Where were you on that day I first showed up?"
Aileen said "I was at Aeis' memorial park. Mother would always take me to that park as she socialized and did her things. I never did find someone who could fill the hole in my heart you could've... A best friend, We both think we could've been each other's best friends right?" The shadows were growing darker.
Jessica asked "For old sakes... Want to rest together? I don't want to be alone tonight, and perhaps you could teach me a trick. Some simple spell even a child could use."
Then there was a child. She had been walking across the pavement street with her mom, but was now walking across a cobblestone one. Instead of looking around aimlessly this time she started jogging to Aeis' memorial park. Some old war hero of centuries past was remembered with a lush green pasture, and a magical playground that just got bigger as they were able to pay for more spatial magics to make it bigger inside. Jessica saw a small Draco drawing some child pictures into some sand. Jessica must've been the only human in the park, but that didn't stop her from asking "Want to play? I'm Jessica."
The young Aileen said "Mommy said I shouldn't play with humans..."
"I could teach you a trick though!" and as Jessica held her palms out a small flower bloomed. It was a simple spell that anyone could cast when there was enough grass around them. One that no one would imagine outside of an [Archwizard] with too much time on her hands and dear memories in her heart. The flower was common, but held a nice fragrance... and it held a meaning since they were often found in clusters. They represented "friendship" and it was the flower that Aileen thought Jessica had always smelled like.
