You start heading for home, only to see a small group of oddly-dressed people pass you on the other side of the street heading in the opposite direction. Given what you have just been through, normally you would just keep you head down and ignore everyone. However, you can't do that this time. Because you recognize some of them.
Powerhouse runs by, having seen you but awkwardly keeping his gaze forward, trying to pretend he does not know you. Right, secret identities and all that. Nevertheless, Illucy seems unfazed by everything as she floats by, and throws you a surreptitious wink. Luckily, you're not the only civilian on the road, and most of them just think Illucy is being her usual mischievous self. After all, there's no way those two could know what you did, right?
Just as you are about to continue on your way, you feel a tug on the bottom of your pants. You look down, and standing there is a small figure that could pass for Mr. Universe if only it wasn't six inches tall. The jacked figurine looks up at you with a note in its small hand, obviously wanting you to take it. You give a quick look around and confirm no one is paying attention, lean over like you're tying your shoelace and take the note, and then stand up and open it.
See you soon, Ru-ru! the note says in ridiculously curvy script.
As you look down, you see the figurine has disappeared, then catch sight of it running down the street in the same direction as Powerhouse and Illucy. There's no way they know what you did. After all, you left no hints that could lead anyone to you, right?
It's getting late, so you head home, still worried about someone finding out about your actions. Luckily, your mom has already left for work, and while Leo is still his ebullient self, he doesn't notice how distracted you are. This time, you head up for a shower as soon as you get home, still grossed out after being in that alley and worried you might have blood on you from that hero you saved.
While you are still tired from your shift into a cheetah, surprisingly, this time your shift to a scaly form comes much easier, possibly because you have a clearer idea of how you want to change your form, having already done it yesterday. You might just be able to gain some control over this suit after all, but you'd have to think about that later. You were just too drained for any deeper analysis.
The next day at school passes in a similar haze, although you do hear others talking here and there about the report of a villain yesterday. Finally, at the end of the school day, you trudge determinedly to the Superhero Club's clubroom.
"Hi, Ruby! Boy, that was some hullabaloo yesterday, huh?" Priya greets you as you enter, while Lucian and Tom look up.
"Look," you say, taking a deep breath. You know that now is the time to tell them what you have decided.
