"I'm sorry," she says, "There's no phones here. I never saw the point to having one installed."
"You...never...saw the point?" you ask, shocked. How could anyone not see the point in having a phone?
"Well," she sighed, sitting down on the bed, "If I had a phone, people could call. If they called, I might be tempted to invite them over. If I invite them over, they might stay until after dark."
"So...what the HELL happens if they stay after dark?" you ask, feeling an uneasy feeling in the pit of your stomach.
