Hoofbeats sounded. Gelvin looked over her shoulder. A magnificent pure white Copperstone mare galloped between her and the stallion. The stallion promptly turned to watch the white mare.
"Better mare," he whinnied. He chased after her. Part of Gelvin was jealous and upset to be discarded so quickly, but her human brain kicked in. This was better. Gelvin whinnied at Mayfly and the two galloped in the opposite direction of the stallion and, presumably, the rest of the herd.
They came to a stop in a secluded glen in the woods. Gelvin grazed while Mayfly hungrily nursed from her full udder. As the two got their fill, Gelvin thought. Now that she was no longer pregnant, she could change back to a human without any problems. She could even return to being male! Though she would then have to find some way to keep Mayfly fed.
Regardless of what sort of shape changing she did, Gelvin had a new destination in mind for herself and her daughter. No more would they go to Wind's Grove. No, they would find safety with Gelvin's family at the Warstone estate.
