Something on the ground catches your eye

added 29 days ago A S Shrinking Mental Avian

Before you could think of what to do next, your head is starting to ache as you stumble back. As you do, you step on something that makes you lose your balance and fall onto the pacement. Looking back, you see that the thing that tripped you was a plain, brown leather bag that was spilling birdseed out onto the ground. A couple of pigeons flocked towards the now open bag and started eating. Looking at the pidgeons, your mind began to feel numb and you started getting dizzier and dizzier. Everything seemed to be blurring and fading... After a few minutes of sitting there completely still, the pidgeons begin to fly away, snapping you back to reality. You start to stand up to walk away, but something about the bag makes you unable to look away. After standing up, you pick up the bag and look inside. Yes! There's still seed in it. Now with those pesky birds out of the way, you can have eat all of the rest of this by yourself! You start to shovel seeds into your mouth... They taste terrible. You try to stop eating, but something snaps you back to reality. They don't taste bad at all! In fact, they taste better than anything you've ever tasted! You start eating more and more. Every time you eat the whole bag, it just refills. You eat all you can but you're never full. Almost like it's magic. You hold the bag over your mouth and spill the seeds directly in. You feel your lips harden and slowly push out. Your nose and chin smoothing out and hardening along with it... Wait. Something doesn't seem right about this. Something in the back of your mind says you shouldn't eat this. This seems wrong... Why are you eating this with your hands? You should be eating this seed off the ground! You find a bench near the statue to put the bag on so it'll keep spilling without you needing to hold it. You start to peck at the seeds and the bench and statue begin getting bigger. You look down and the concrete is getting closer to your eyes... What? That shouldn't be happening. What's going on? Why are you getting smaller? Your clothes fall around you and you're left naked on the ground, the size of a bird, next to the bench. What are those seeds doing to you? Those... Those seeds. Those delicious... No, not delicious! cursed! You need to think of something other than that birdseed... The birdseed that just stopped spilling onto the ground. That must have been the last of it. For some reason, no one else is trying to eat it anymore. It's all yours. What were you thinking about earlier? It probably doesn't matter. If you forgot, it wasn't important. You start to get the seeds under the bench. Your hands are cramping up, but you haven't been using them anyways... Wait- your hands? Oh no. You manage to pull yourself away from the stuff you were focusing on earlier to look at your hands. You feel agonizing pain in them as your fingers squeeze together HARD. They're starting to melt into each other, leaving just a pointed edge on the ends of both of your arms. The pain stops for a second. Then it comes back even worse then before as feathers slowly sprout from your skin. You just want the pain to end. You can't think of anything else but the pain. After a full agonizing minute of watching feathers sprout from your new wings, you can't help but feel relief that the pain is gone. Now your mind is clear and the only thing you should be putting your mind to is how to reverse the effects of those seeds... The seeds. You almost forgot! You should finish eating the last of the pile before any other pigeon gets to them! You start eating the seeds again. Your feet start feeling weird and your balance seems a bit off. You almost fall over, unable to balance with your current body proportions. Luckily, you have your wings, so you just flutter and hop off the ground whenever you need to re balance yourself. Your legs squeeze and become really thin, your toes lengthening and getting scaly as your toenails become sharp claws. Your torso starts to widen and round out, giving you a better balance and a more natural way to keep your wings to your side. You eat the last of the seed and your field of view becomes almost 360°. You can see your feathers coming in, starting from your head and working their way to end at your tail feathers. You look around, and spot a bag. You feel compelled to pick it up and fly with it. After circling the statue for a little while, you spot a new person you don't recognize. You drop the bag behind them. They hold their head, seemingly because of a headache, and stumble on the bag.
